Sana Sultan is a popular face on social media, and her resplendent beauty and positive demeanour enthral her millions of followers and fans each day. Her work has garnered her the prestigious Atal Bihari Vajpayee Award and Dada Saheb Phalke Award, amongst others. With her vision firm on reaching success through her work, she is an ardent believer in the power and grace of God. She states, “Every day I wake up and tell myself ‘I can, I will, and I must’, which has been my life mantra.”
Born and bought up in Bombay, Sana attended school from an ICSE board and did her graduation in mass media. As a child, she was very shy and timid and not confident, whereas, in contrast, her brother was an intelligent student who teachers always praised. She was an average student and wasn’t that popular in school, but in 10th standard, she saw a shift in her mindset and strived to make a mark. Since she was underestimated and demotivated, she resolved to prove everyone wrong and become a star one day.
She wanted to become a star since her schooling days. She felt that in the ICSE Board, there weren’t much of extracurricular activities as the primary focus was more on education. She says, “I was not good at studies, but I was good at dramatics. Unfortunately, my school did not have many of those, so I could not showcase my talent out there. So that’s why I started participating in drama and the creative field when I joined college. I started winning many drama and personality competitions which boosted my confidence and made me sure I was on the right path.”
Sana recalls the time when she was featured in New York’s Times Square Billboard when she won a beauty pageant. She was elated as she was among the first Indians to have been featured on such a prestigious billboard which she was very proud about. The pageant had lakhs of aspiring girls participating, but ultimately Sana’s charm and drop-dead gorgeous looks took the crown home. This was the signal from the universe that she felt was her destiny as a star.
For Sana, her role model is someone close to home which is her mother. Her mother was one person she knew closely and could balance her professional and personal life seamlessly. Being a successful businesswoman who, for the last 30 years, has been running her beauty parlour with the same passion and vigour. She has created a legacy by which many of her students were able to build their own careers. Even in her personal life, she gave full importance to providing her children with the best education, ethics and values.
Sana enjoys spending time with her family the most in her spare time, which she finds very therapeutic. She feels blessed to have very cool parents who are more like her friends to her. Besides this, she loves to rejuvenate by visiting the spa with her parents. She is an avid reader, which intrigues her and serves as a complete mood changer.
The message she would like to share with the younger generation is that she remarks, “Stop comparing yourself with other people and not believe everything you see on social media. Being a social media influencer, I also have my share of bad days. Not everyone posts their bad days or failures. Rather, all their happy moments and successes. This can hamper people’s mindsets as they feel everyone is living their best life, but that is far from the truth. Everyone shines on their own time, so keep going, believe in yourself and work hard.”
Regarding her future work, she does not want to delve into details, but she says there is something huge in store for her fans, and they are in for a big surprise, so stay tuned.
