Mirjam’s journey to becoming a Specialist in Giftedness is truly inspiring. She saw a need for support for gifted children who were often overlooked or misunderstood in the educational system, and this led her to start Meyis. Her passion for helping these children is truly admirable and her work at Meyis is making a real difference in the lives of many. As she says, “I help these children love themselves again, get back to school, coach their parents, educate the schools in identifying gifted children at a young age, help them to write and guarantee the policy.”
With no major investments, her business was built through sheer discipline, utilizing every free moment while working full-time. Through gaining the trust of parents and creating a strong client base, her hard work proved to be a success. Despite being turned down by over 20 schools, she refused to be discouraged, stating, “What is 20 rejections compared to 1009 rejections? NOTHING!” Her unwavering perseverance and unrelenting determination reflect her commitment to aiding gifted children in their journey towards success.
Mirjam’s understanding of giftedness goes beyond a high IQ. She recognizes the unique characteristics of gifted children, including curiosity, quick thinking, creativity, complexity, autonomy, justice-orientation, perfectionism, and a great sense of humor. Through Meyis, she helps schools and parents understand the importance of educating and supporting gifted children to develop into gifted adults. As she shares, “Every gifted student that is ‘’seen’’ and confident about their talent and being is an enrichment for the world.” Mirjam’s passion and dedication to helping gifted children thrive is truly inspiring and making a real difference in the world.

She stresses the significance of teaching gifted students that making mistakes is acceptable and to keep persisting.
Mirjam is a driven and passionate individual with a remarkable story to tell. Last December, she had the honor of attending the Education 2.0 Conference in Dubai as a keynote speaker, where she was awarded for her outstanding leadership. The experience left her feeling humbled and grateful for the recognition she received. To top it all off, she was recently featured in the Hall of Fame with a cover story, which she describes as an incredible achievement.
According to her beliefs, true leadership entails empowering individuals in their abilities and delegating tasks based on their strengths. Mirjam thinks that leaders should serve as coaches and work together with their team members to aid them in accomplishing their objectives, similar to how teachers operate. In Mirjam’s perspective, innovative and genuine thinking is crucial in a team setting, and it’s crucial to appreciate each person’s ideas and viewpoints, celebrate collective accomplishments, and create a favorable work environment.
As Mirjam has so eloquently expressed, “My final message for all educators around the world: You are wonderful, you have the most greatest job, I know it’s hard sometimes. Those students come to your class with big expectations, want to be inspired by you! ‘’See’’ them, try to connect with them first before you lecture. Look further than only the disturbing behaviour. That student just want to tell you something: See me! Remember when you had something special on a school day? You couldn’t sleep from excitement. Give them that experience whenever they enter your classroom. Surprise them! Cut the routine. Explore and create. Learn them life skills. How do you want to be remembered by your students over 10 or 20 years? Be the difference! Different is beautiful!”
