Rising from Adversities, A Succesful Talkshow Host
Marci Hopkins is an award-winning host and creator of the 3x Telly Award Winning Talkshow: Wake Up With Marci. She launched this show with the idea of spreading hope through others’ stories. ‘Wake Up With Marci’ shares stories of transformation and hope and interviews with celebrities, wellness and mindset authors, doctors, and thought leaders. Wake Up is an educational platform empowering viewers to improve their lives. Marci Hopkins has recently released her memoir “Chaos to Clarity: Seeing the Signs and Breaking the Cycles”.
‘Chaos to Clarity’ shares her harrowing personal story of child abandonment, sexual trauma, addiction and recovery. Throughout the book, Marci shares education, introspection work and action items for the reader in order to begin their healing journey, knowing that it is possible to learn to move towards happiness and fulfilment. She shares the story of her younger years which were clouded with abandonment from her mother, and she had to endure physical and sexual abuse from the men in her life. In order to find a coping mechanism, she turned to alcohol. She kept drinking alcohol throughout her life whilst managing to have a successful career in television. Married and blessed with two children, Marci chased her lifelong dream of being in front of the camera in 2010. It was the career and journey of acting that brought her to her knees, and so she surrendered her addiction in 2016 and began her journey of healing, recovery and overcoming her past traumas! She further adds, “today I am in my 8th year of sobriety, and my mission became clear that I needed to help others and give back. I am now an award-winning TV host of ‘Wake Up with Marci’, and author of Amazon’s best-seller: Chaos to Clarity: Seeing the Signs and Breaking the Cycles.”
Being an entrepreneur definitely has its ups and downs. She explains how a good entrepreneur needs to have patience and learn through failures because failures are bound to happen, but they immensely help a person learn. Having perseverance, tenacity and staying humble, taking small steps toward your ultimate goal, not comparing to others, surrounding yourself with those that lift you up, and asking for help when needed. A person cannot do it all, nor should they feel the need to do so.
Passionate about helping others, Marci believes it is the core of all that she does. “Staying true to myself and my mission keeps me motivated, no matter what others say. It is staying consistent, always evolving and staying open to the opportunities in my life.” She claims that fear can overcome people, but it is giving into those fears that make people stronger. Hearing from others how her own story, authenticity and courage changed their lives for the better adds fuel to her burning passion!
Marci Hopkins continues to be inspired every day by the response of men and women that she has touched by her mission. Her goal is to reach many others with her platform globally. Transforming into a top motivational speaker, creating a movie from her book and touching the world through her talk show is all part of her big goal. “No matter where you come from, we are all touched by hardships, and I want others to know that being triumphant is possible and there is so much hope”
Awards and accolades have followed her path. She has been named the ‘Social Impact Hero by Authority Magazine’, voted the ‘Media Entrepreneur of the Year’ by New Jersey Family Magazine, named the ‘Social Influencer’ by 201 Magazine and Bergen Record. Marci recently received the Women’s Achievement Award from The New Jersey State Federation Women’s Club, and was also honored by the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge at their Whiskers and Tails Dinner and Casino Night.
Lastly, she shares her views on how a leader builds up others around them, fosters relationships, learns something new everyday, does not think they know it all and builds on the strengths of their team. It’s important to take ownership for yourself and your team, she claims. Communicating well, having flexibility, listening well, being innovative and optimistic and having patience and passion is of utmost importance. “We definitely need more leaders. It is hard to be a leader, it is a gift to lead others to be their best selves.”
