Nancy Herkul is a woman of many talents who has overcome significant hardships throughout her life. She learned at a young age that life is not easy and embarked on her first entrepreneurial venture at the age of 13. Through this experience, she developed a growth mindset focused on resilience and perseverance. Nancy is now a registered behavioral expert, mindset trainer/coach, and entrepreneur. She serves as the CEO of SAGE CONNECT LTD and Editor-in-Chief at Entrepreneurs Connect magazine, both located in Accra, Ghana.
Despite facing challenges while launching her clothing line for fuller-figured women in the highly competitive fashion industry, Nancy persisted in pursuing her goals and developed her methodologies based on the latest research in neuroscience, DNA, epigenetics, and endocrinology. She aspires to use her skills to help individuals, single mothers, and contribute to the development of the African motherland. Her business portfolio includes coaching, training, and product development, all based on the latest research in neuroscience.
“I’m driven by helping women overcome societal limitations by enhancing their cognitive abilities and boosting their self-confidence,” says Nancy. She believes that success is not just about making money, but also making a positive impact on the world. “Entrepreneurship has taught me that success is about positively impacting others,” she adds. Nancy also has a desire to leave a legacy for her home country, Suriname, and her African roots. “I want to leave a legacy that serves as a beacon of hope for my people,” she says.
When asked whether she aligns herself with the rat race or the tiger, Nancy says she sees herself more as a tiger. She believes the competitive and stressful nature of the rat race does not align with her goals and values. “I’m a ‘goal-getter’ and will stay no matter how long it takes,” she says. Nancy finds the endless possibilities of the mind to be a great source of energy and motivation. Regardless of whether one is a rat or a tiger, Nancy remains committed to standing out and creating a positive impact.
Nancy’s exceptional trait is not solely her natural business acumen, but also her steadfast dedication to teamwork and fostering a sense of community. She recognizes that individual success is not attained in isolation, and has set out to establish an environment where entrepreneurs and innovators can convene to exchange their knowledge, offer mutual encouragement, and effect constructive transformations.
Through her online courses for students, graduates, and young entrepreneurs in Africa, Nancy hopes to reprogram the minds of youth who face societal hardships and neglect. She believes that they have the potential to bring significant change and urges others to help African locals improve their lives. Additionally, she is the ambassador for Black Music Appreciation Month in June, promoting and highlighting Black music and culture, especially in Europe.
Nancy’s upcoming launch of a special edition of Entrepreneurs Connect magazine for Black Music Appreciation Month is a significant achievement. In the music industry, the aim is to leverage the talents, skills, and resources of black artists and professionals to promote collaborations that contribute to the advancement and empowerment of African people. As a diaspora member, Nancy was asked to serve as a Queen Mother in a Ghanaian village called Gomoa Ojobi, where she will be designated as a leader, along with other leaders, sometime in June.
Nancy firmly believes in the power of self-belief and encourages individuals to always have faith in themselves. True leadership, according to Nancy, involves taking charge of one’s life, standing up for oneself, and inspiring others to do the same. She emphasizes the importance of finding one’s passion and using it as fuel to reach their goals. Despite the challenges and obstacles that may come, she urges individuals to persevere and never give up on their dreams, as “dreams require the strongest of wills.” Nancy’s story is a testament to the power of determination and the impact one person can make on the world.
