Soul Elixir: Healing a World of Wounds
Tamika Moseley’s rise from Shreveport to a pioneering voice in alternative medicine showcases her resilience and dedication to health equity. In a revealing Q&A, she shares how she overcame adversity, defied norms, and used her experiences for global health impact, demonstrating natural healing’s power and the spirit required for meaningful change.
Can you share about your early years and what led you to your current path?
Raised in modest circumstances, with health and financial struggles, I observed my father’s health decline due to conventional treatments while my mother worked tirelessly. This instilled in me a drive for wellness and independence. Self-driven through college to earn a BS in Business from Amberton University, I sought to escape corporate America’s “mental prison,” yearning for a passionate life.
What key challenges have you faced in business, family, and personally?
The turning point in my life came with my son Aiden’s diagnosis of sickle cell disease. His frequent hospitalizations and the tangible threat of losing him pushed me to explore natural herbs, resulting in a transformation that not only saved Aiden but also inspired my books, “Sickle Cell Natural Healing: A Mother’s Journey” and “Healing From God’s Medicine Cabinet.” Starting Everything Health in 2016 was a leap of faith, merging my passion for healing with entrepreneurial spirit.
How do you balance your career ambitions with home responsibilities?
Balancing global outreach with family needs has been challenging, especially initially, requiring me to set personal boundaries. My fulfilling work demanded sacrifices, like my marriage, but led to greater self-understanding and a chance to teach my children the value of traditional medicine.
How have you found organizational culture towards working women?
Leaving Corporate America was a decisive step for me, driven by the stark realization that it offered little support for women’s advancement or equitable compensation. Despite widespread declarations of gender equality, the reality often falls short, with women remaining conspicuously underrepresented at all levels of the corporate ladder.
How can women attain more prominent roles in organizations?
Empowerment begins with equitable pay and ends with a culture that genuinely supports working mothers, including offering on-site childcare and paid parental leave. By dismantling the barriers to women’s advancement, organizations can foster a more inclusive and productive environment.
What’s been your biggest career barrier as a woman leader?
The most significant challenge has been advocating for traditional herbal medicine in a society dominated by pharmaceutical interests. Convincing a skeptical public of the efficacy of ancient healing practices, against the backdrop of a billion-dollar industry, has been an uphill battle.
Where can we find you on a typical Saturday morning?
Saturday mornings are sacred, spent nourishing my children’s bodies and minds with healthy meals and teaching them about meditation, sound frequency, and the power of positive affirmations—lessons not found in conventional education.
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy during your ‘me time’?
My sanctuary is nature. The serene landscapes of Washington State offer a respite from the demands of life, allowing me to reconnect with myself and the healing power of the earth.
What strengths contributed to your success, and how did weaknesses turn into learning opportunities?
Client successes inspire me, highlighting my work’s impact. Learning patience through skeptics’ resistance to herbal remedies emphasized the need to respect individual health journeys.
What fuels your passion, and how does it guide your goals in life?
Driven by compassion for widespread health struggles, my mission is to educate and empower optimal health through natural healing, aiming for a healthier world by spreading knowledge and creating accessible solutions.
Can you share key professional and personal achievements?
Writing “Sickle Cell Natural Healing” and “Healing From God’s Medicine Cabinet” highlighted my journey. Starting my supplement line and Everything Health furthered my mission to heal humanity. In 2023, opening my Healing House underscored my dedication to wellness. Recognition in WomLead Magazine amplified my contributions among impactful women..
What message would you like to share?
“Always believe in yourself, love yourself, and forgive others. Holding onto resentment or anger can lead to chronic diseases. We are all interconnected in this vast universe, and by emanating love, we invite love back into our lives. This simple yet profound truth can revolutionize our health and our world.”
Any additional reflections for our viewers?
“Cease all worry, anxiety, fear, and sadness, as these emotions contribute to chronic illness. Remember, how you feel and act towards others reflects back on you. Embracing love for all mankind can dramatically shift our collective well-being. Race is an illusion; we are one human race, destined to thrive in unity, love, and peace. It’s time for us to recognize this truth, come together, and create a world filled with joy, love, and health for everyone.”
