An Unstoppable Force Fuelled By Determination and Passion

“My life experiences have allowed me to inspire others to discover that inner power, which makes us, as women are, truly unstoppable,” says Suzette Obiana Martina, a licensed Exercise Therapist Cesar with over 15 years of experience who has learned that healing is not just physical but also mental and emotional. Her journey is one of resilience, inspiration, diligence, and, most of all, being true to oneself.

Born and raised in Curaçao, she studied in the Netherlands and returned home to apply her knowledge and empower her community. Her greatest realization has been the importance of self-awareness and intentional living. She inspires individuals to break unconscious patterns and achieve better posture, movement, and overall vitality through her work. Every challenge has taught her to stay adaptable, embrace creativity, and never stop learning. Above all, she believes that real transformation is possible through empathy and tailored care.

As Cesar exercise therapist, she primarily focuses on treating patients and guiding them toward recovery. She says, “Ideally, they should continue applying what they have learned to maintain their well-being. However, I noticed that many individuals struggle to stay consistent once their treatment ends. This realization led me to establish the PRO Wellness and Therapy Center—where people can continue working on their health after completing their therapy. Our center bridges the gap between curative and preventive care, ensuring individuals have ongoing support to stay fit, pain-free, and productive daily.”

There were many challenging times in her career; as a young graduate, hardly anyone believed in her. Suzette started at a health center where a doctor gave her a chance—an opportunity that became a win-win situation, allowing her to get her first patients. She arrived early every morning for two weeks and left late every evening before her first patient finally walked in. Other doctors and specialists didn’t know her and hesitated to refer patients. She even heard their comments, ‘Who is that? No, I won’t send you to Martina because I don’t know her.’

Those words fueled her determination. She promised herself, “I will prove to all of you who Martina is. I never begged for referrals or sent out Christmas gifts to win favors. Instead, I focused on building my knowledge, improving my service, and delivering real results. Over the years, I started hearing: ‘Suzette is excellent—I will send you to her.’”

Suzette’s greatest inspiration is her son. She was a single mother, but he unknowingly gave her the strength to keep pushing forward. She thanks her parents, who helped care for her son when needed. She is also grateful to her patients and God, who has been her constant support throughout her career.

With 17 years of experience as a Cesar Exercise Therapist, her love for learning led her to pursue courses in Pilates, Acupressure, Massage, Cupping, kinesio taping, Occupational Health, Foot Therapy, Coronary Diseases, Heart Failure, Psychology, Psychosomatics, and much more. She believes in continuous education to better serve others with diverse treatment methods.

Suzette’s passion lies in truly seeing people for who they are—understanding their struggles, guiding them toward solutions, and empowering them to take control of their well-being. She feels that awareness alone is not enough; the right information must be available to educate and inspire change. She strives to be a valuable source of knowledge that helps individuals achieve a pain-free, healthier, and more productive life. Knowing that she can make a real impact on someone’s daily life fuels her passion every day.

Suzette defines leadership as, “As a leader, one should create more followers or leaders. I love helping people grow and develop so they can flourish. I do this within my family, with friends, assistants, interns, and even my patients and clients. I enjoy sharing knowledge, experience, wisdom, thoughts, and ideas. When you empower people with insight and wisdom, they can form their ideas, make sound decisions, and stand in their strength—allowing them to become leaders. True leadership is about creating more leaders, not followers.”

She shares her personal story with our readers and remarks, “During a breast screening, the radiologist told me—after learning that both my grandmother and mother had passed away from breast cancer—that I was 100% certain to develop it too. That statement made me reflect on why certain patterns repeat across generations. I do not blindly accept things; I have a critical mindset and always seek my answers.”

Since then, she has become more conscious of her lifestyle, set firm boundaries, and eliminated anything that does not serve her energy. She feels that life does not just happen to us—we have the power to live consciously and create different outcomes.
