Mr. Kanwarjeet Singh Kochhar, Chairman & Managing Director – TAURUS GROUP, a profound hospitality professional, philanthropist shares his story.
Hailing from Delhi, Kanwarjeet was among the five children to his parents. His father served in the Intelligence Bureau during British India and mother was a homemaker. He has been blissfully married to Ms. Navjeet Kaur since 1984. The couple is blessed with a daughter and a son. His son, Mr. Pavneet Kochhar, is a Commercial Pilot, now fully immersed in operations alongside his father. It was while pursuing his graduation from Delhi University he was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug, the first generation in his family, he set up his venture in the automobile industry.
Kanwarjeet’s passion, commitment, and experience of over 4 decades helped him pioneer in various industries such as Aviation, Manpower Consultants, Pharmaceuticals, Import-Export, Warehousing, Agro-Industry & Land Banking. With his foray into the hospitality industry, interest in luxury travel led him to establish his first Hotel as ‘Taurus Sarovar Portico’ at Aero city, New Delhi. Delivering their passion and commitment towards providing a premium luxury hospitality experience to all, with outstanding value for money. The Hotel complex comprises 175 rooms, state-of-art banquet, and food and beverage services.
Following the success of this endeavor, he is now extending, the brand ‘Taurus’ across the Globe by launching a few luxury properties and restaurants very soon. The above vision is initiated with the introduction of ‘Delhi Barbeque Restaurant’ chains in the city of Delhi and NCR. A businessman by profession but a philanthropist at heart, Kanwarjeet believes and practices social and religious welfare. He is the president, Delhi chapter for an NGO “Sarbat Da Bhala” SIKH community Charitable Trust,which is dedicated to the social-economic transformation of rural and remote areas of India, especially the weaker and socially underprivileged groups, through physical, social, cultural and economic development of rural people, groups and institutions.
