His family moved to the United States from India in the early 1960s. He credits his parents for having imparted the ethics of hard work and igniting within him the desire of giving back to the community. His honest and humble beginnings made him understand and value the importance of making a difference in the world.
Recognizing the need for education and healthcare, he founded the Bhatt Foundation, a global 501 (c)
(3) non-profit, dedicated to providing access to quality, affordable healthcare and education to numerous domestic and international projects in the United States, India, Honduras and multiple countries in Africa.
‘The Bhatt Foundation’ is a globally recognized nonprofit that was founded after the passing of his father to honor his legacy of charity, supporting education for underprivileged girls, and providing for skill development and training. Today the Foundation is present on every continent and focuses on education
and healthcare innovation around the world. The initial focus was on supporting the education of schoolgirls in India. Currently, they cater to global healthcare and educational support to multiple schools and hospitals impacting thousands of people. Being a private foundation, providing laser focus to the organizations they support is mandatory and they abide by all government requirements. Alongside providing guidance for life-skills, they additionally support the less fortunate with in-kind gifts as well, mostly to keep the beneficiaries motivated and driven in their efforts. The freedom to integrate and improvise their operations enables them to cater to the needs and challenges and lends a unique perspective.
Hitesh shares, ‘Seeing the smiles of the children is what drives our passion and provides us our reward. Their joy at going to school, receiving a book or looking into the grateful eyes of patients who have received potentially life-changing healthcare is allconsuming. These amaze and inspire us to move the needle & create significant and impactful change.’
The landmark for Bhatt Foundation was understanding and appreciating that the need for modern, affordable, available healthcare and education is not limited to any one country. Multiple countries were and still are in dire need of emergency medical aids. This is imperative and without these components, no one can change the condition of poverty faced by the world today.
Bhatt Foundation’s vision is “Improving Global Healthcare and Education through Innovation”. They believe that education is key to guiding children to a better future than they can currently see and that healthcare is critical to enabling students to learn. Whether it is sponsoring school tuitions for underprivileged children in India, or supporting efforts to eliminate human trafficking or providing technical medical equipment to the hospitals of the Bay Islands of Honduras. Hitesh concludes, ‘The Bhatt foundation is committed to widening its reach and be the catalyst for change’.
