The founding President and CEO of Envaserv Research (ERC) Ltd., a leading multidisciplinary ISO Certified environmental consultancy and ISO-accredited environmental laboratory testing company in Ghana, Africa, Dr. Emmanuel Lamptey is an experienced Environmental scientist and Executive leader with a wealth of experience in Research, Management etc. The majority of his last 20 years were spent in academics, environmental management, business development and local governance: creating a unique blend of academics, business and politics. He holds a PhD and MPhil in Oceanography from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology. A certified Environmental Consultant, he has been working over the last 11 years in transforming ERC into a strong niche player and market force in environmental and social consultancy and laboratory testing, introducing innovation and reorganizing business into the International arena.
Back in September 2011, Envaserv Research Consultancy began its journey after its incorporation by the Ghana Companies Act. However, processes leading to its formation, though planned but were accelerated by sheer coincidence, leading to the moving of a mini-laboratory from the Department of Marine and Fisheries Sciences to a small room within Dr. Lamptey’s apartment. The main telos behind the formation of the business was to have a one-stop-shop firm with the requisite capacity to provide environmental and social governance (ESG) services to industries including oil & gas, mining, agriculture, manufacturing, transportation etc. The ESG deals with the identification, assessment, and management of environmental and social issues in corporate businesses. ESG improves corporate governance and customer expectations for transparency and ethical partnership. It was thus an integral part of the corporate/business operational structure for the organisations desirous of growth and sustainability.
In professional and personal lives, planning ensures efficiency as it helps to eliminate potential challenges. He claims that one should have a lucid distinction between professional and personal lives and set some discernible boundaries. Although, there are some instances where one realizes that either alignment or overlap between the two should be acceptable if it brings out mutual benefits.
His strong business appetite stems from the desire to provide corporate solutions, notably environmental and social services and satisfy customers beyond their expectations. A feeling of satisfaction overwhelms Dr. Lamptey as he accomplishes given tasks, not necessarily in terms of profit, but being able to surmount those environmental and social challenges for the utmost satisfaction of the clients. “The inkling to ensure we are providing solutions and dismantling unsurmountable environmental and social challenges with new models and approaches keep my business appetite buoyant,” said Dr. Lamptey. He exclaims that he is very often driven by the inherent inkling that the destination to his business success is beckoning at a distance and thus he needs to do his utmost best to get to that destination in attaining that business success. Further, service/product and business diversification is a pointer to his passion drive. “It keeps me avidly going and wakes me up at dawn to muse over the right direction to take. It further makes me ready for a business drive, a novel approach to achieving customer solutions and moving to the next level.”
