Have you ever thought about how much easier your life could be if you could connect with your true self? For example, you could make the right decisions for yourself, leave your dilemmas behind with ease, and distance yourself from your fears. You don’t need a magic wand or a fairy to meet your real self. All you have to do is listen to your inner voice! Sometimes, the concept of “listening to your inner voice” can evoke the idea of moving away from logic completely and choosing what may be wrong for us, even if our hearts desire it. However, our inner voice courageously tells us what we truly need, goes beyond appearances, and encourages us to fully harness our potential. Your logic shows you the closest possibilities it can see. It can certainly help you take some precautions, but sometimes it can lead you to unwarranted worries. Meanwhile, your inner voice gives you news of a path that will unfold before you, a path you can’t see right now. So, instead of relying solely on your logic, if you also listen to the voice of your inner self, you can find the right paths easily. If you think your inner voice does not lead you in the right direction, consider this: Is the voice you’re listening to really your inner voice? When you truly hear your inner voice, there is no doubt, fear, or anxiety. Instead, there is calmness, happiness, and courage. Your inner voice doesn’t weave long stories like your logic. It doesn’t engage in lengthy conversations with you. It simply comes, shows what needs to be shown with compassion, and silently waits for you. It doesn’t insist that you follow the path it shows. It doesn’t disturb or frighten you. It only makes you feel that another possibility is possible. You’ll understand how and why once you start following the path it shows you. And after a while of following that path, your logic will also be influenced by the view ahead and support you.
So, how can you truly start listening to your inner voice? Meditation is one of the best ways for this. By dedicating a short time to meditation every day, you can silence the noise in your mind and hear the voice that emerges from within, your true self. For those who don’t know where to start with meditation, I recommend a 20-minute Zen Meditation. For the first five minutes of meditation, simply breathe and count which breath you are on after each exhale. After completing your 10th breath, start counting again from 1. In the next five minutes, silently count the numbers in your mind and then focus on your breath. This will gradually reduce the noise of the mind trying to do something different from the first five minutes. After completing these five minutes, move on to the next five minutes where you only focus on your breath. Listen to your breath. Let your focus be on your belly, the tip of your nose and the sound of your breath. In the final stage, the last five minutes, simply experience sitting. Don’t specifically direct your focus anywhere; just experience being. In the final stage of meditation, your inner voice will guide you in the right direction. Over time, you will also notice that your inner voice easily communicates with you in many moments throughout the day when you need it. Life takes on a completely different meaning when we get to know ourselves, experience different things while trying to understand what we want, and go through this process with our inner sage. Most of the time, we don’t have to fight or struggle with life; try listening to your inner voice with joy, happiness, and enthusiasm. I promise, it’s worth it!
