A Flourishing Healer With A Myriad Of Skills
Dr. Shilpi Mohan comes from humble beginnings, brought up in a middle-class family where she derived lessons from her parents of spirituality, honesty, and integrity and learned to aim for excellence. Her father won a national award from the erstwhile President of India Gyani Zail Singhiji for his services. Educated in Kendriya Vidyalaya, she managed to clear the pre-medical and pre-engineering entrance examinations on her first go. She had a driving passion for being a heart specialist which led her to join the Government Medical College in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. While she did super-specialisation in Cardiology from the prestigious Army Hospital, Research and Referral, New Delhi, she and her husband had to stay disjointed for eight years in the initial years of their marriage.
A person who always dreamt of establishing a holistic healing center where patients could be provided preventive care, Dr. Shilpi wanted to ‘shift the focus from illness to wellness.’ Initially, she was on the lookout for venture capitalists to support the cause but soon opted to start small and grow big subsequently. She believes that “disease is a manifestation of mental and physical imbalance or disharmony. We cannot just treat a disease per se and leave the root cause unattended, be it unhappiness in life or any other issue troubling the psyche.” She strives for the idea to provide her patients with physical, spiritual and psychic healing under one roof.
The route to success has been accompanied by thorns for Dr. Shilpi as she tried to complete her education without any gap years during the initial years of her marriage. Even now she works to strike a work-life balance and she has two children who are young and require enough care and support. Being an army officer’s wife where in shifting as per the requirements of the posting is frequent, instability starts creeping in but so far she believes that it has only brought the best out of her all along.
Unlike others, for Dr. Shilpi work is not a business. It works as a passion that drives her with the sole purpose of bringing a positive change in the lives of people she comes across. She exclaimed, “I am just a healer and a conduit between the ultimate healer and the healed.”
Claiming herself as only a medium that acts to manifest the almighty’s wishes is an outstanding outlook on life. A cardiologist, yoga trainer, psychic healer, tarot card reader, chakra and crystals healer, she is a profusely skilled woman. She loves reaching out to people and extending her role in healing and bringing substantial changes in the lives of people.
The emergence of COVID brought her closer to her patients through the telemedicine platform. A lot of her patients who she had never met offline have connected to her through virtual platforms throughout these times and have become a part of her extended ‘Ashvattha Cardiac Care’ family. She is a stern believer in the fact that a healthy mind and body contribute towards transcending the economy and wellness of the people and holds the potential to make India a global superpower in the upcoming years. This is where she believes that people like her contribute their bits towards the cause in making India shift their focus from ‘illness to wellness.’
Dedicated and pious to her profession, Shilpi has worked in the remote lands of Jammu and Kashmir as well as in the biggest cardiac centres of Delhi and Hyderabad. A healer to many, she is unfazed by how many patients she faces in a day be it one or a hundred. She acknowledges that bringing wellness to even a single person’s life will have a multi-fold impact on the lives of those associated with them. The number-game or patient-volumes are just relative indices that we delude ourselves with. A decade ago, she planned on taking interventional cardiology for the sole reason that it was well in demand. After joining the fellowship in the Narayana Hrudayalaya in Bengaluru, she left it in mid-session as her heart was bound to pursue preventive cardiology. This was how she persuaded herself to start focusing on starting up a preventive cardiology and holistic healing centre.
Dr. Shilpi has been invited as a guest speaker at various national and international forums and has also been awarded the “Most prominent Cardiologist of the year 2019 in Secunderabad” and “Enterprise Woman of the Year 2022 – Health and Wellness”. Lastly, she parts ways by saying how challenges must never be an excuse for one to fail or stop pursuing their dreams. . Any dream that one sees is not something small or big. It is a dream. It has to manifest. She follows the mantra of ‘Ikigai’ and likes to keep moving forward without carrying a burden of regrets.
