A Gemologist and a Gem of a Person
Shaped and carved in the early stages of life, Swapna Pinnamaneni credits her schooling in St. Mary’s Girls High School for the same. Born and brought up in Kothagudem, Telangana, she moved to Los Angeles in 2000 and started her software career in 2008 once her second-born child started his schooling.
While doing her software management day job she studied gemology at the Gemological Institute of America. Later she started creating a few fine pieces of jewelry for herself. Then, the word of mouth started to spread from friends and family who dearly loved the quality and creativity behind her work. She kept following the flow and all this is what has brought her the success that she has to date.
Swapna believes in the business strategy where her product is the King. Taking utmost care in the finest nuances of the quality of creation, in each and every piece is of primary importance to Swapna and her brand. This helps them to stand out in the crowd as she believes.
When asked about the challenges that she faces in her professional and personal lives and how she manages to balance them, she exclaimed that maintaining balance is beautiful and ultimately essential. Swapna Pinnamaneni claims she loves her software day job, as much as she enjoys her creativity and growing the Swapna Rani brand as well. She throws light on how many pioneers have achieved great successes and performed miracles whilst maintaining a work-life balance and this is where she gains her learnings from.
An appetite for business is a driving factor behind a person and how they operate their business. For Swapna Pinnamaneni it is a way of creating growth and employment. She exclaims “that is what brings me contentment. As much as I enjoy my creativity and my brand’s growth, my heart is in creating Employment, where everyone is treated with respect and kindness.” Business for her can be perceived as something merely a source of wealth but she truly believes in a bigger picture.
‘Go with the flow’ is Swapna’s mantra as she enjoys what she does in her day-to-day life. “When I started my company Dream Choice Inc. in 2014, I was working as a software manager.
‘Rejection is a blessing in disguise’. This is my experience, and so I have read it is, for many great achievers.” She remains mindful of the purpose behind her passion and vigilance and dedication help her to stay afloat while performing her daily duties in her job, business and personal life as well. Swapna’s company oversaw a lot of changes with the induction of a new CEO as she was asked to take up a tech-lead position rather than her team manager position. This was a true rejection for her and knowing what her dreams were, she quit her day job and started to work on growing her business and her brand ‘Swapna Rani’.
The onset of COVID-19 has adverse effects on people’s lives, health and businesses alike. On the contrary, the pandemic helped Swapna shape her brand in a much better way, she believes. The time that she had in hand made her ponder and think thoroughly about how things should be done diligently which would help her brand shape up well.
As previously expressed by Swapna, she is a staunch believer in helping the economy by creating employment which also happens to be her first preference. Providing people with jobs and skill-set for the job at hand enables them to go out and make the economy even more strong. She explains that while designing is her passion, mentoring is her purpose. Her fine jewelry brand was growing and getting international recognition with two designer awards from the American Gem Trade Association in 2018 and she has thus set up her team to make sure that her Fine Jewelry branch runs on Autopilot.
In 2018, Swapna Pinnamaneni was the recipient of the Jewelry Design for Classical and Carving Categories by the American Gem Trade Association Spectrum Designer Awards. She started her mentorship at Dream Choice Mentorship and mentored kids in South Africa.
Every person had their own mantra for growth, development and success. For Swapna, clarity in intention is something she emphasizes. “I follow the flow” she claims and asks others to do the same. Learning from people around us and their experiences is something we all do and is generally human nature but one must remain careful about picking up only the positivity.
