Neuroscience Expert Founder of Cognitome Program CEO, Cognitome LLC
Global award-winning Neuroscientist and Neuropsychologist Dr. Mohita Shrivastava blended her passion for Neuroscience, Psychology and Entrepreneurship to establish Cognitome LLC – A startup neuroscientific program, The Cognitome Program, that offers therapeutics and management of issues related to cognition, cognitive control and cognitive functions in particular, and brain-mind-behavior in general.
A researcher and an educational professional turned entrepreneur, currently based in UAE, Mohita is changing lives through her pathbreaking ‘Cognitome program’, her research/review and awareness articles in various international publications, and her blog – Cognizine. She has been selected for ‘Outstanding Leadership Award’ at Health 2.0, to be held in Dubai in June 2023 and in the US, July 2023.
“Over the years, I came across numerous people who were performing below their optimum potential because they were underutilizing their cognitive abilities. They were unaware of the concept of cognitive health and how pivotal it is in our daily lives. To address this problem, I came up with the idea for ‘Cognitome Program’ and founded Cognitome LLC.”
Mohita’s life is a study of tireless hard work, integrity, and magnanimity, all of which she imbibed from her parents. Mohita was born in Bhopal, India, to highly educated and working parents – her mother worked and retired as a Professor of Business Economics in a reputed university and her father worked and retired as a Chief Engineer in the government sector and held various positions in Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA).
Mohita holds two Post graduate degrees, one as Master’s in Biomedical Science from Delhi University and other as Master’s in Applied Psychology from Annamalai University. She also holds a PhD in Neurosciences from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the diamond standard for medical education in India. While at AIIMS, she got a rare opportunity to explore the finest of neuroscience research techniques under the able guidance of Professor Russell Swerdlow, a Neurologist and Professor of Integrative Biology at KUMC, Kansas City, USA. Further, she also holds an Advanced Diploma in Applied Clinical Neuropsychology from University of Bristol, UK.
After her PhD, Mohita was offered positions as Assistant Professor in Neurosciences & Psychology/Physiology in leading Universities/medical college in Delhi/NCR. “Teaching comes naturally to me with both my maternal grandfather and mom being stalwart Professors of Economics. The love and appreciation I received from my students have a special place in my heart.”
A multifaceted achiever, Mohita is equally passionate about writing. Her passion for creative writing gradually merged with her interest and knowledge in the field of mind-brain-behavior, and she started writing on Mental Health in international newspapers/magazines and her own blog – Cognizine.
However, the feather in Mohita’s cap is undoubtedly – Cognitome LLC (www.cognitomeprogram.me). Launched in 2021, the Cognitome Program is her sincere and heartfelt effort to help society and make a change replete with hope, optimism and confidence in her clients and acquaintances.
Their plan of action is highly customized as per individual assessment, and aims at improvising the person’s cognition and cognitive behavior. They employ the best software; assessment protocols; test kits that are evidence based, neuroscientific, have proven highly effective in cognitive therapeutics and rehabilitation, and are used globally.
Through the program, Mohita has successfully treated patients with chronic anxiety and PTSD issues dependent on pharmacological drugs for years. By devising a therapeutic customized plan, most of the patients became drug free within a span of 6 – 8 months, and regained their confidence and optimism.
“Post pandemic, I have witnessed an increase in brain fog and declining cognitive health in terms of perturbed cognition, cognitive functions, and cognitive behavior. My goal now is to make everyone understand that cognitive wellness is equally important as physical health, and cognitive issues must be resolved to achieve balanced behavior in our daily lives.”
Mohita knows this is easier said than done. Clients come from different backgrounds and moods, and this alters their acceptance, perseverance, and speed for success of the therapeutic program. In addition, we still lag Western countries when it comes to seeking treatment related to brain and mind health. “I try to address this gap in multiple ways – talks, individual sessions, presentations, workshops, webinars, etc. Recently, I also wrote a weekly series of 12 articles on brain and mind health in one of UAE’s prominent daily newspapers. I am confident that these vital steps will help me fulfill my dream of seeing ‘A happy and healthy world, both inside and outside’.”
A veritable leader, what inspires the dynamic Mohita herself? “My father, who has been my guiding light; the incessant support & love from my mother; dedication & integrity of my PhD mentor Dr. Madhuri Behari, a globally renowned neurologist; and above all, being mother to my cute, adorable and intelligent son – the apple of my eye,” says Mohita, the complete woman.
