Dr. Josephine Harris

Globally inspiring Women’s Leader and Mental Health Coach

The exceptional Dr. Josephine Harris dons many hats – she’s a Mental Health Professional, an International Bestselling Author, 6X Times #1 Amazon bestselling author, Philanthropist, Behavior Analyst, Serial Entrepreneur, Global Speaker, and Regional VP of the HERpernuer Network.

Yet above all, she’s an American military spouse, and proud of the fact that being one has been the foundation of her success. As a military spouse, she experienced some of the most amazing places in the world such as Hawaii, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, China, and the Bahamas. It was a completely new life experiences, and she learned a lot while adjusting to unfamiliar cultures and diverse backgrounds.

Proudly serving the Seoul Counseling Center in South Korea since 2018, Dr. Harris loves serving people of all cultures, especially military spouses, because she knows how difficult it is to struggle with knowing who you are and hiding behind the mask (which she calls a shield of military shadow) and trying to find your self-identity while going through mental health challenges. When she began her journey as a military spouse, she began to lose herself in the process of supporting her husband’s military career. She had to teach herself and develop the tools to find resources that helped her overcome challenges dealing with her self-identity and confidence. Thus, she enjoys helping and giving individuals, especially military spouses, a platform to give them a voice and tools as well as resources so that they can overcome mental health challenges and achieve personal and professional growth.

This is exactly why Dr. Harris enjoys what she does all day as a Psychotherapist and Certified Mental Health & Wellness Coach and Advocate. Never one to settle for less, she also has a Ph.D. in Psychology, Post-Master Online Teaching Psychology Certificate, a Master of Philosophy in Psychology, M.S. in Psychology, and a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration. She is certified in both, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and is an Internationally Licensed Psychotherapist.

These credentials, combined with her global experience and a passion to empower others, are what led her to establish her Global multidimensional coaching practice – Calming Minds LLC. As Founder and CEO, Dr. Harris helps clients connect with their mind, body and soul by way of inspiration, facilitation, coaching and other dynamic mechanisms. Dr. Harris is also the Regional Vice President of the Herprenuer Network and Set on the board of Director as a Board member of SafePlace Olympia.

Bringing a vast portfolio of uncompromising skill sets and certifications to her practice, within the realms of Addiction counseling, Intervention programming, Domestic violence, individual and group psychotherapy, and many more, Dr. Harris proves herself to be an ideal collaborator, and one of the many reasons she has earned outstanding respect from those she serves.

A true visionary, Dr. Harris draws her inspiration from her family – her husband, who is her biggest supporter; her children; and helping others through challenging times. Dr. Harris mantra in life is simple: She is inherently committed to the emboldening of women, particularly military spouses – facilitating for them all, an opportunity of hope. Whether it be through transformational messages of professional and/or personal growth, Dr. Harris was born to encourage, motivate and empower women of all cultures.

Her endeavors have seen her acknowledged on prestigious global platforms: GHU 2022 Helping Hands Award for Mental Health (Green Heart University); Power-Up Summit 2021 Finalist; Success Women Nation (Top-most Influencer – Health & Wellness); Brainz 500 Global 2021 Influencer Leaders (Brainz Magazine); Health 2.0 Las Vegas (Influencer Leader Mental Health Professional); Top 25 Most Inspiring Women (Called 2 Inspire International Magazine Inaugural Edition); Top 25 Unstoppable Innovators; Phenomenal Overcomer (Phenomenal Overcomer Magazine); Global Influencer (UMedia Group LLC), among others.

A certified super-achiever, how does Dr. Harris overcome the pitfalls? She tells us, “Starting a business is a significant achievement for many entrepreneurs, but maintaining one is the largest challenge. There are many common obstacles that every business faces – hiring the right people, building a brand, developing a customer base, and so on.” However, the biggest challenge Dr. Harris experienced was fatigue – The work, the hours, the pressure to perform, and the fear that in her absence, the business will stall. But Dr. Harris realized that even people in corporate America take time to recharge. She also learned the importance of self-care, and the importance for a business to have a diversified client base to pick up the slack when any single client quits paying.”

Leaving us with a message, Dr. Harris states: “Lead by example – people take their cues from the leader. It is very important to live the values that you espouse. In other words, be authentic. After all, every day is another chance to change your direction and believe in the impossibilities!”
