A triple postgraduate with a PhD degree in Management, Dr. Biplab Kumar Biswal has worked in a variety of fields in his distinguished career of over 25 years. He has handled numerous senior-level positions and attained proficiency in directing complex projects from concept to fully operational status. From the initial stages of his career, he has been involved with various international bodies working on healthcare and poverty elimination in the country.”
Dr. Biplab feels that teaching is a profession that provides satisfaction like no other. It gives him divine satisfaction and a sense of pride when he sees the visible progress of his student. Classroom provides a different set of challenges each day and enhances his day with excitement and eagerness to get back into the classroom. “It gives me the freedom to be creative, to decide how exactly I impart information to my students and make it my own.”
Exceptional skills in developing and implementing strategic plans, breaking new avenues & driving sales growth/project development activities are some of the sharpened business strategies he tends to follow. He is also a keen planner, strategist & implementer with expertise in establishing and managing entire operations with a key focus on top line & bottom line profitability through optimal utilization of resources. Dr. Biplab claims that thinking out of the box and standing illustrious for others is one among many strategies that makes him an outstanding personality. He is also blessed with excellent communication skills, the reason he faces very few problems or gets things solved through effective communication. He possesses great oratory skills.
He believes in being and nurturing a creative learning environment with scope for taking risks and failures directed towards beautiful results.
Passion has a motivating factor, he believes. It is a flame that lights the way to educational happiness, and gain knowledge. Passion for quality and effective learning, creating an effective learning environment and increasing the learning potential of students is what he certain about.
As a Director, he steered the institute with resilience during the pandemic. It also provided him the time for growth, guiding KIAMS to higher levels. On the technology front, KIAMS is one of the most advanced colleges in India. Being a core engineering company, the Kirloskar Group quickly adapted to the crisis posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. KIAMS was probably the only college to operate classes in a hybrid model then. Classes undertaken at the campus were broadcast online for the students who were unable to visit the campus.
During the sudden lockdown declared, around 100 who were in the midst of writing their trimester-end examination students were stuck on the campus of KIAMS at Harihar in March 2020. It generated a panicky situation. From April 1, 2020 onwards, students were to join Business Immersion (BI) Projects in various industries in across the country. KIAMS always considers its students as brand ambassadors and assets. Considering the situation, the management at KIAMS decided to retain all students on the campus. The local administration was also informed. Protocols of sanitization and hygiene maintained at the campus ensured safety.
Globalization needs people with strong skills and a great mind and Dr. Biplab creates such engineers. “As a director of a management college I look forward to creating good management engineers. Investing time in educating managers helps me contribute to the nation’s economy. I can proudly say I am providing empathetic managers to the industry who are doing exceptionally well in the corporate world.”
Passion for learning new things drives him to collaborates with different institutions for collective improvement.
Dr. Biplab is a life member of the Indian Economic Association and Red cross with numerous research publications. He is “The Global Indian of the Year” award winner by Asia One, “Top 10 most Trusted Brands of 2021” awardee by Business Sight and “Intellectual of the Year” by Rifacimento International to name a few.
People are the mantra for any set-up according to Dr. Biplab. He focuses on taking care of his people and in turn, they take care of the rest. “I can proudly say that I have not created a profitable business rather I have created a close-knit family caring for each other in any adverse situation. No salary cuts, no delayed payments like any other unit.” Don’t Compete, don’t Compare, don’t Hate and don’t Judge, he adds lastly.
