Every so often, a story emerges that reminds us that transformation is possible—not just for individuals, but for communities and even the collective consciousness. Ylwa Woxmark, celebrated as a Global Game Changer 2025, embodies this truth. Her life and work are testaments to the resilience of the human spirit, the healing power of nature, and the profound wisdom that animals—especially horses—can offer us.
Ylwa’s journey began in Stockholm, where she enjoyed a thriving corporate career. Outwardly, she was successful, commanding a six-figure monthly salary and mastering the language of economics, structure, and management. Yet, beneath the polished exterior, she felt unfulfilled. Her life took a darker turn when she survived a destructive relationship with a psychopath, an ordeal that stripped her of her self-worth and very will to live. For many, this would have been the end of a story. For Ylwa, it was the beginning of a new one.
In 2010, she left the city behind and sought refuge in the heart of Dalarna, Sweden, where stillness, nature, and horses became her greatest teachers. Here, alongside her soulmate Mats, she began building what she calls her Dream Life—a way of living where humans and horses could heal side by side. Over the next 17 years, Ylwa walked the path of healing, turning her pain into wisdom and her struggles into a mission. Today, her work is devoted to helping others find clarity, resilience, and trust in themselves.
Her professional portfolio is a remarkable blend of leadership, equine-assisted therapy, and conscious coaching. While her early career taught her the structures of business and communication, it was her shift to guiding human transformation that defined her legacy. Horses, with their remarkable sensitivity and ability to mirror human emotions, became partners in her mission. Together with Mats, she is building The Horse Academy and The Sanctuary—spaces where horses and humans meet to heal mental and physical traumas, grow in awareness, and align with higher purpose.
Through her coaching practice, The Dreamlife, Ylwa supports clients worldwide in personal development, leadership, and trauma recovery. She writes for international publications, creates educational programs, and shares her unique insights through books such as The Horse Etiquette series. Her contributions to Brainz Magazine on trauma healing with horses have further established her as a leading voice in the field.
Inspiration, for Ylwa, comes from courage and presence—qualities she witnesses in both humans and horses. Horses’ extraordinary sensitivity during trauma recovery shows her what is possible when awareness and compassion guide us. Her goal is clear: to help more people and horses rediscover their inner strength, trust themselves, and live in alignment with their life’s purpose. Beyond the individual, she seeks to raise collective awareness, showing that healing ripples outward, touching families, communities, and societies.
Her strengths lie in empathy and vision—the ability to see patterns, hold space, and guide transformation. Yet she is equally candid about her challenges. For much of her life, she carried too much responsibility for others’ growth. Learning to balance compassion with healthy boundaries has been a vital lesson, one she now shares openly. For Ylwa, leadership is not about being flawless; it is about modeling self-awareness, presence, and the courage to keep growing.
She describes her leadership style as that of a “new-era leader”: empathetic, present, and collaborative. Vulnerability is not a weakness but a bridge to trust. Collaboration takes precedence over competition, and empowerment replaces control. She calls this the Lightworker path—awakening consciousness in others, supporting their growth, and creating a ripple effect of healing and transformation.
Balancing personal and professional life has been another discipline of presence. Time in nature and with horses restores her clarity and energy. She and Mats share responsibilities, creating a home and work environment that nurtures both their growth. Quiet practices like journaling, meditation, and reflection are not luxuries but necessities, grounding her so she can serve with authenticity and sustainability.
Unwinding, for Ylwa, is about returning to stillness. Long walks in the forest, sitting by the water, or simply observing her herd of horses allow her to release tension and reconnect with her inner self. These practices are not distractions but pathways back to clarity and alignment, enabling her to show up for others with compassion and focus.
Her message to the world is simple yet profound: “Transformation begins within. Challenges, fears, and doubts are not barriers, but guides pointing us toward growth. Each act of presence, each step toward self-awareness, creates ripples of positive change that extend far beyond ourselves. Be gentle with yourself, embrace your journey, and know that your courage to grow lights the path for others.”
Recognition has followed her in many forms. She has been honored with the Crea Global Awards 2025 for creativity, adaptability, and contributions to sustainability and mental health projects. She has achieved milestones such as becoming the first woman in the world to perform in a jousting show without a bridle (2012), serving as an Ambassador for Female Entrepreneurship (2013), being recognized as a Royal Court Photographer (2013), and coaching her partner Mats to a World Championship silver medal in horseback archery (2018). From academic programs in horseback archery to humanitarian efforts like leading a parade for Ukraine in 2022 to raise funds for animals, her achievements reflect a life of courage, creativity, and service.
And yet, Ylwa insists that the true measure of success is not in awards or accolades but in lives touched and healed. For her, every person who rediscovers trust in themselves, every horse who recovers from trauma, every client who finds clarity—these are the victories that matter most.
