When Majbrit Høyer talks about the energy transition, she doesn’t speak in abstractions, she speaks in bridges: between countries and companies, engineers and policymakers, ambition and action. “The green transition must be both global and inclusive,” she says, a credo she has lived for nearly three decades across public, private, and boardroom roles.
Her defining spark arrived far from home. In 1991, as a young visitor in a Tamil Nadu village, she saw firsthand what it means to have light, or go without it. That experience set her life’s trajectory: electrical engineering, power systems, and a career devoted to widening access to affordable clean energy.
Høyer began in Denmark designing control systems for global power plants, then moved into offshore wind, helping develop more than 10 GW of projects with Ørsted and Copenhagen Offshore Partners. She later advised the Danish Energy Agency on the North Sea Energy Island and, in 2017, founded WorldPower Consulting to pair strategic insight with technical rigor for governments, investors, and developers. Today, she serves as Chief Advisor and Country Manager (India) at the Danish Energy Agency, leading the India-Denmark Energy Partnership Programme under the Green Strategic Partnership. “My purpose is to translate ambition into tangible progress, empowering people, projects, and partnerships to make clean and affordable energy a shared global reality,” she notes.
Her portfolio reflects a rare fluency across sectors. In addition to public-sector leadership, Høyer has chaired Crestwing, a wave-energy pioneer, and served on the board of Energy Cluster Denmark, where she championed innovation ecosystems and the scaling of green technologies. Through WorldPower Consulting, she has advised on transmission systems, energy islands, and offshore wind, always with an eye on cost-effectiveness and system integration.
What distinguishes her leadership is its balance of clarity and care. “Trust is my most important currency, and purpose is my compass,” Høyer says. She describes her style as “ambitious, reflective, and inclusive,” creating space for others to grow while connecting strategy to practice. Colleagues know her for turning complex visions into implementable roadmaps through dialogue and cross-cultural collaboration.
Høyer is candid about the tension between urgency and endurance. “My weakness, if I must name one, is patience. I often wish to move faster than systems allow,” she admits. Over time, she has learned to balance speed with inclusion, courage with humility, the only way, she believes, to build changes that last.
Her inspiration comes from those who unite vision with action. She wants emerging economies to leapfrog into renewable-based systems that are resilient and inclusive, with governance and technology working hand in hand. “Energy is my profession, but also my metaphor,” she reflects. “I prioritize presence over perfection, knowing that leadership begins with inner alignment.”
That alignment is sustained by a rich life beyond the office. Høyer is a sailor on the Danish coast, a yoga practitioner, and as often as the music calls, a Cuban salsa rueda dancer, comfortable in the lead or following the flow. Travel with her children shaped their shared values: openness, kindness, and respect for diversity. Time at a simple Swedish family cottage offers “a counterpoint to my professional world of leadership, deliverables, innovation and diplomacy.”
Her message to readers is grounded and galvanizing: each of us holds a piece of the global transition. “The future is not written by technology alone, it’s created by the courage to cooperate across borders and to act with integrity when no one is watching… progress is not a solo act, it’s a shared journey.”
Recognition has followed the results. Høyer has been named a Global Gamechanger 2025 by Passion Vista; recognized by Børsen as a “Power Woman in Energy” (2018); and entrusted with senior advisory and governance roles, including Technical Advisor on the North Sea Energy Island project, Board Chairperson at Crestwing (2023–2025), and Board Member at Energy Cluster Denmark (2020–2025). Her credentials include an eMBA from DTU Business and a Board Certificate from Board Company.
Across continents, from Asia to Europe, the U.S., and Canada, Høyer has found that cultural diversity is not a hurdle but a force multiplier. Collaboration across borders, she says, “brings new energy and perspectives to development, opportunities and solution space.” It is why her work in India today feels like a circle closing, a return to the place where her purpose first crystallized, and a reminder that the world’s most urgent challenges are best met hand in hand.
