In a world where perfection is often performed rather than lived, Julia Mae Corotan chooses honesty. She chooses vulnerability. And, most of all, she chooses connection. A storyteller, mentor, and mental-health advocate, Julia has emerged as one of the most authentic voices of her generation, someone who speaks not from a pedestal but from a place of shared humanity. “My life is nowhere near perfect,” she reflects. “But if my story reaches even one person and reminds them that they’re not alone, that is all that matters.”
Today, Julia represents a new kind of influencer, one driven not by numbers but by impact; not by image but by truth.
Julia’s path toward personal development unfolded in 2017, when she joined AIESEC, the world’s largest youth-led organisation. While mentoring young people across the Philippines, the United Kingdom, and Malawi, she was also navigating her own internal battles. “There was a period where I felt like I was going through everything alone,” she says.
After leaving AIESEC, Julia found herself returning to her old journals, letters she had written to heal the parts of herself that felt unheard. That moment sparked a calling. “I thought, why not share my story? Maybe someone out there could relate, and maybe they wouldn’t feel as alone as I once did.”
In 2021, she launched Amica Mea, a motivational and personal-development blog grounded in mental-health awareness. What began as an intimate space of reflection soon grew into a community, a safe place for people dealing with the “war in our heads that only we can hear.”
Her latest chapter, Becoming You, expands that mission through a podcast dedicated to healing, self-discovery, and growth.
While building her platforms, Julia continued her professional journey across continents. From leadership roles in AIESEC to operations and logistics in the coffee industry, every chapter sharpened her communication, empathy, and ability to connect with people from diverse walks of life.
Yet, no matter where she worked, her calling remained the same: to empower others.
“I take pride in my communication skills. I used to be shy, but pushing myself out of my comfort zone showed me that I love speaking in front of people, sharing ideas, and connecting.”
Julia’s strengths, communication, empathy, and open-mindedness, form the foundation of her leadership. She believes teams thrive when everyone feels heard. “Even as a leader, I learn from my team every day. I simply become the voice of the team.”
Julia’s motivation remains beautifully simple: her readers, friends, and family. “Even reaching one person is enough to keep me going,” she shares. “The world is already cruel, sometimes we just need one person to remind us we’re not alone.”
Her long-term goal is to continue building meaningful spaces, through writing, mentoring, or podcasting, where people can feel understood and supported.
Balancing life’s chaos, she says, is about holding onto small victories. “Life isn’t perfect. But the small wins make every challenge manageable.”
She also believes in cultivating hobbies that nourish the soul. Reading, painting, and spending time in nature form her personal toolkit for grounding herself. “When I read, I enter another world. When I paint, I feel the calm of creating something out of nothing.”
Julia’s leadership style is anchored in equality. Titles don’t matter to her, only the collective. “In a team, we are all equal. A great leader guides, motivates, and helps people become better versions of themselves.”
Her approach reflects the core of her personal philosophy: understanding, compassion, and shared growth.
Julia’s work has earned international acclaim, including:
●CREA Global Awards 2025 – Brainz Magazine
●Nomination: Outstanding Women Leadership in Content Creation Award – Business Frontier Leadership Conclave & Awards 2026
●The Northern Star Award – AIESEC Benilde Philippines (2019)
Each milestone is a reminder that vulnerability, when transformed into strength, becomes a force that moves others.
Julia leaves readers with a philosophy worth engraving into one’s heart:
“Never stop being the authentic you. Stay true to your values. Life won’t always go as planned, but enjoy the moment. Live with no regrets. One day, when you’re 80 and someone asks, ‘Did you live the life you dreamt?’ be able to say, ‘I lived my life, and it was better than I imagined.’”
