International Fashion Designer
Musician turned Fashionista Sima Azadegan is the Founder of the chic designer label – Sima Collezione, which is ruling the global runways in just one year of its launch.
“During the dark days of Covid, I finally decided to follow my dream and created my Fashion Company – Sima Collezione. I realized that I had worked very hard in my life to get to this point and the only person that I was going to listen to was myself. I can say with a lot of confidence that listening to my own intuition has paid off.”
As a young girl, Sima did not have a voice. The third child of an immigrant family in the US, she always wanted to do the right thing and please others. At 9 years of age, she started her classical piano training and at 17, she entered the University of Southern California and graduated with a double major in Political Science and Music. At 20, she got married and started creating and building a family with her husband. Today, the couple has a 27 year old son Daniel and 25 year old daughter Dana. They have also adopted a boy named Jordi, who is now 8.
For 20 years, Sima was a piano teacher and on the board of directors for four major charities in Los Angeles. Music was an inherent part of her soul and spirit. Yet, at 36 years of age, she went through a journey of inner consciousness which led her to her dormant creative passion of designing.
“After living a complete life, at 50 years of age, I have found my authentic self and who I truly am. My journey of discovering my inner consciousness that began at 36 has culminated at 50 when I have deciphered my vision and the mission that I was born to do on planet Earth.”
The biggest obstacle that Sima faced to reach this point was the fact that her own family and friends were not supportive of her decision to manifest her dreams and desires. Their lack of faith in her ability hurt Sima as she faced a barrage of resistance and negative feedback. Not one to give up easily, she took strength from her own belief and powered on.
On September 12, 2021, she proved all her naysayers wrong when she launched her fashion line at the New York Fashion Week. Since then, she has had the honour and privilege of featuring her collection at the Milan Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week and Forbes 30/50 International Women Summit in Abu Dhabi.
Her brand has enjoyed worldwide recognition in fashion magazines such as ELLE, HARPER’S BAZAAR, MARIE CLAIRE and more than ten channels in Europe and around the world. Sima herself has been on press releases of Forbes, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, US Reporter, NY weekly, LA Wire, and others. She has received the Top 100 Leaders Award from Fabcom, CREA Brainz Award, and had the inclusion of her biography in Marquise WHO’S WHO. She is also an executive contributor for Brainz Magazine and has had a series of podcasts at PodCast Business News Group.
Yet, Sima believes that the only way you can truly enjoy your success is when you have your family with you throughout the journey. “I decided early on that I will share every news about my work with the family. One reason is that I wanted them to be involved in my journey and second, so that they have a better idea of what I am going through. I also decided to work only 3 days a week for a more balanced life.”
Sima believes that in order for a woman to achieve prominence, it’s important for her to be a leader and an expert in her field. One such inspiring woman was Sima’s late grandmother, Suzanna Cohen. As a young girl, she escaped Poland and the atrocities of WWII and lived as a holocaust survivor till the age of 90. More importantly, she lived her life as a warrior and not as a victim.
Regarding her own challenges, Sima says, “The biggest challenge has been finding the right people who believe in me and my cause. Throughout my journey, I met a lot of opportunistic people who wanted to take advantage of me, either to make a name for themselves or to make a lot of money. Thankfully, I found the right people who shared my vision and energy. We have been working together ever since, and amazing outcomes have come to pass.”
At 50 years of age, Sima has discovered her life’s truth: “The most important journey that you will embark upon in your life is the one to find your own self and your own truth.”
