Business Leader & Founder – Accelera
One of the most newly coveted names in the world of Business and Telecoms, Mohamed Alsayed has fast been recognised for his exceptional skill in transforming businesses through his consultancy firm – Accelera. Accelera is a boutique consultancy firm that operates in the GCC from its base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and focuses on a number of key areas that aid SMEs in reaching their full potential, including Retail and CX transformation, internal and external digitisation, GenZ and Generative AI utilization, and modernizing corporate culture. All of this expertise and methodologies have been meticulously curated from experience with some of the largest global consultancy firms.
Prior to turning entrepreneur, Mohamed has been a high-powered Telecoms Leader with a cumulative experience of more than 25 years. He has held leadership roles in many of the region’s telco giants including du in the UAE, Batelco in Bahrain, Zain Group in Kuwait & Jordan, and the Saudi Telecom Company STC.
Interestingly, almost everything Mohamed has learned was self-taught. While he did start his career holding a Masters degree in Business Economics, he entered the world of telecommunications as a complete novice. He had to rely on himself to learn both the technical and the commercial aspects of telecoms, initially via manuals by Ericsson and Alcatel lying around the office, and then by a number of mentors who quickly saw Mohamed’s potential. He learned everything from network engineering to radio planning to product development to budgeting to marketing and so on.
Sharp, insightful, and innovative, Mohamed was responsible for a number of firsts during his 2 decades in the industry. For example, he headed the commercial team that brought The Kingdom of Bahrain its first mobile data services. Eventually, he decided to travel across the middle-east to broaden his horizons and work for a number of regional telecom giants.
This is how Mohamed came to lead the telecom revolution across the middle-east. His knowledge of the market and interpretation of customer needs was so profound that during his final year of his tenure at STC, he was appointed as an Advisor to the Chief Commercial Officer of the giant Saudi Telecom Company STC. This is a privilege that very few have earned, due to the importance and amount of knowledge and experience needed.
During his career, Mohamed always paid-forward the mentoring and coaching he received, by actively mentoring and coaching as large a number of employees as he could, and has helped shape many who went on to lead, and do amazing things. He deliberately set aside time for this, as he has always been a believer in life-long learning and sharing his expertise with others for the overall good.
This compassion is also what prompted the question ‘What next?’ Since leaving the corporate world, Mohamed has put all of his efforts into building his consultancy Accelera, that offers expertise and guidance at a level similar to the biggest global consultancies, but to small and medium businesses at affordable prices.
His mission since retiring from telecoms is working across all sectors and levels in the country to share knowledge and build better employees, leaders, and companies. The objective is to improve the lives of everyone by improving the economy, starting at the most basic level.
A born humanitarian, Mohamed also volunteers his time and expertise to a large number of causes. He has been a Mentor for a year on an official government-led initiative to walk young school students through the process of building their own live company, building and selling products, and competing against similar initiatives in other countries. He also runs a bi-monthly workshop for solo entrepreneurs and micro-business owners completely free of charge, to share concepts of marketing, sales, and customer experience to those who would otherwise have no exposure to it.
For personal development, he has kept himself abreast of the latest advancements and global events through executive education at the pinnacles of learning such as Harvard Business School, London Business School, and MIT Sloan School of Management.
Today, it is safe to conclude that diligent work, business astuteness, and inspiring interpersonal communications form the cornerstones of Mohamed’s success. His initial accomplishments in telecoms and subsequent success in consulting can be credited to his passion for creativity, teamwork, and growth. Never one to settle for less, Mohamed has always pushed the boundaries of innovation to bring about a complete transformation. It is thanks to pioneers like him, that we can march to the future with pride and confidence.
