Dr. Aimée Tathiana Koulounda stands at the intersection of academia, entrepreneurship, and social innovation, a leader whose work reshapes how women’s empowerment and economic inclusion are understood across emerging economies. With a blend of scholarly rigor and community engagement, she has built a career dedicated to transforming research into tangible social impact.
Her journey began with a strong devotion to education. After completing a Master’s degree in Communication in Lyon, she pursued an MBA and later a Doctorate in Business Administration at ESM in Switzerland. Her doctoral research on women’s entrepreneurship in the informal sector of Congo-Brazzaville revealed a profound truth: even in the most difficult circumstances, women demonstrate extraordinary resilience and untapped potential. This insight became the guiding force of her professional path.
Aimée’s career unfolded through diverse roles that strengthened her expertise. She led a real estate agency as Director, represented a foundation, served as Vice-President of IARIS, and worked as a consultant for the World Bank, contributing to projects on economic inclusion and social safety nets in Congo-Brazzaville. These experiences deepened her conviction that academic knowledge must be transformed into operational solutions capable of improving lives.
In 2024, this mission took concrete form with the founding of Étoile Brillante for a Bright Future Association in Geneva. The organization reflects her commitment to empowering women, reintegrating youth into education, and renovating school infrastructure. Through creative initiatives like Art in the Service of Education, Aimée channels research-driven understanding into community-centered action, bridging scholarship with real-world outcomes.
Her work has received significant international recognition. She has been honored with the International Best Researcher Awards (IIRAC and ISTRA 2024) and the SIRA International Excellent Researcher Award 2025, underscoring the global relevance of her research on women’s entrepreneurship. These distinctions, dedicated to excellence in academic research, specifically highlight her contributions to economic inclusion and reinforce her role as a thought leader committed to turning research into impact. For Aimée, awards are not endpoints but platforms from which to amplify her initiatives and broaden their reach.
Her professional identity is built on three key pillars.
Academic Research: Her studies on women’s entrepreneurship have earned global distinction for their depth and insight.
Consulting: Through her collaboration with the World Bank, she contributes to policy-driven projects addressing systemic issues around social protection and inclusion.
Social Entrepreneurship: Realized through Étoile Brillante and strengthened by her writing, including the Growth Journal: Vision, Faith, and Success, a tool designed to support discipline, self-confidence, and structured project planning.
What sets Aimée apart is her ability to harmonize these pillars with clarity and purpose. She moves fluidly between research, policy, and grassroots implementation, bringing a holistic and human-centered approach to every initiative. Her inspiration remains rooted in the women she met during her doctoral fieldwork, women whose courage and ingenuity in the face of adversity shaped her understanding of human potential. Her goal is to design inclusive economic pathways where women are not merely participants but leaders in shaping sustainable futures.
Aimée defines her leadership style as inclusive, collaborative, and empowerment-driven. For her, leadership is about creating environments where ideas can flourish and every voice holds value. Deep listening, co-creation, and collective problem-solving form the foundation of her approach. Respect, integrity, solidarity, and empowerment are not abstract ideals, they guide her daily actions and decisions.
She acknowledges her strengths, resilience, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to translate vision into results, while openly recognizing her past challenges with perfectionism. Learning to delegate has become an essential part of her leadership evolution, allowing her to maintain both excellence and efficiency.
Balancing professional responsibilities with personal life is a deliberate practice for Aimée. Family remains her anchor, offering joy, grounding, and renewal. She nurtures balance through meditation, reflection, quiet meals, solitary walks, and intentional pauses. Her leisure activities, reading, watching films, traveling, exploring culture, and cooking with her children, nourish her creativity and inner peace.
Her message to society is rooted in empowerment and collective progress, “Each of us carries infinite potential. Success is built through daily choices shaped by challenges, failures, and victories. Dare to pursue your dreams, but remember, it is together, through solidarity and collaboration, that we can build and transform societies.”
For Dr. Aimée Tathiana Koulounda, the true measure of success is not in accolades but in impact, the woman who gains confidence to start a business, the young student returning to school, the community that rediscovers its collective strength. These are the legacies she continues to build, one initiative, one life, and one community at a time.
