Architect of Multimillion-Dollar Innovations and Empowering Global Tech Teams
Srinivas Savitala has been a trailblazer and an esteemed technology leader for the last 24 years in the industry. With a zealous commitment to progress, he has been instrumental in defining strategy and directing new and established teams to design and bring innovative products to market that generate millions of dollars in new revenue. He also leverages his strong business acumen and comprehensive technical expertise to disrupt the retail, devices, and fashion industries with game-changing solutions and scale up global services.
After gathering insider business knowledge working in Hyderabad for 10 years, he moved to the United States to pursue his professional dreams. He has herculean experience in managing enterprise and consumer-related products, which he did at Microsoft and Amazon. He developed products at Microsoft that scaled for several thousand internal and external users while working with the Corporate (Finance, HR, and Legal) teams and Microsoft Consulting Services. At Amazon, he built large-scale technology teams and managed up to 80-member teams, including software engineers, applied scientists and technical program managers.
Some of his career highlights include:
1. Launching multimillion-dollar businesses for Amazon (Owned Returns, Upsells and Electronic Shelf Labels (for digital pricing and promotions)), including 100+ Amazon 4-Star, Amazon Books, and Amazon Fresh Stores.
2. Launching key initiatives like Omnichannel (Buy Online Pickup in Store), Upsells (Subscriptions and Products), Returns (Instore and Online), and Digital Signage Experience (via 2 Million + Electronic Shelf Labels) at the Amazon Physical Stores Organization.
3. Launching a highly scalable platform, “Amazon Seller Forums,” a social hub for 2 million+ Amazon sellers worldwide.
4. Launching “Small Business” badges and certifications on Amazon Search and detail pages that enable Amazon customers worldwide to discover small business products during their shopping journey.
He is currently working at Amazon as Head of Engineering for the “Selling Partner Empowerment, Communities, and Trust” organisation, where he leads Software engineering, Science, and Analytics teams. To upskill even further, he is pursuing a Wharton CTO Program that will allow him to take on bigger and bolder challenges in the future.
For Srinivas, leadership is about influence rather than authority, which can be particularly challenging for leaders since they are in charge of large teams with multiple employees. He notes, “Our teams constantly look to us to add value, assist them in overcoming tactical obstacles, and offer a clear and succinct strategic vision to help them achieve their professional objectives and advance their careers. A leader who builds a successful organisation should develop other leaders.”
His journey saw many trials and tribulations, but hard work always wins for him. He says, “Being at the right place at the right moment with the right leader counts, which can also be referred to as luck. One thing that has helped me the most in my career is to see every challenge as an opportunity. As every leader would want, opportunities arise from problems, and challenges with unclear situations to resolve arise from opportunities.”
Srinivas follows a mental model of not being afraid to set difficult goals. He adds, “Take full responsibility for your opportunities, goals, and challenges as a strong owner and don’t assign them to others.” As a leader, this is the only way a person can force themselves out of their comfort zone. A true leader will surely assist the team in overcoming this obstacle.
He is an ardent believer that if you do anything in life, it should be done with all your heart and energy. The world needs more ‘go-getters’ who put in their best effort and have the right mindset that will make them achieve profound success in their careers. He adds, “I slowly understood that we should establish personal and professional goals and adjust our career plans accordingly.”
His passion is his work, which delivers products that have meaningful and measurable impacts on customers’ well-being. He also feels elated working with talented coworkers from whom he can learn and help them grow, which is the cherry on the cake. He feels excited to find an innovative way to solve a problem. He says, “It gives me a sense of achievement when I deliver compelling experiences for customers and drive efficiencies for the organisation simultaneously.”
Srinivas has received numerous honours and accolades from Microsoft, Amazon, Infosys, and Cognizant, including 20+ awards for his pathbreaking leadership and performance. Most recently, “Marquis Who’s Who” recognised him for his two decades of information technology and software engineering expertise (https://www.24-7pressrelease.com/press-release/510537/marquis-whos-who-honors-srinivas-savitala-for-expertise-in-engineering-and-information-technology).
