Born and based in Jakarta, Indonesia, the sharp and suave Monica Romelina Sijabat is internationally acknowledged as an Authority on Taxation Laws. Founder of the decade-old MRS Business Professional Consulting, Monica is a certified Chartered Accountant and Tax Attorney with expertise in Litigation, Audit, Compliance, and Review. In addition, she is a Taxation & Economics Lecturer at the University of Indonesia for Economic & Business Faculty since 2018.
“My business portfolio comprises tax attorney and tax consultant, business consulting, professor, researcher, public speaker for international audiences, and Awardee Lex Falcon Global Award 2024 with the presenter trophy Award by the General Attorney for India-R. Venkataramani on March 7, 2024 at New Delhi-India as the Inspiring Managing Partner Award which is an Awardee Tax Attorney with the highest score. Due to this victory and Monica’s profile background, Monica was appointed to the Advisory Board of the Lex Falcon Global Award 2024 and as Global Lawyer Association Member for International Lawyer. The idea behind it with the prestigious international award was to help deserving people commit to progress with high values of goodness and integrity,” she says.
Monica completed her bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Indonesia, and a Master’s in Economics-Accounting from the University of Indonesia. She became a certified Chartered Accountant in 2000, certified Tax Attorney in 2004 and obtained Executive education in Development Economics and International Development from the Harvard Kennedy School in June 2020.
She began her professional career in 2011 as a Tax Instructor at the Indonesian Institute of Accountants. But it was in 2015 that she took the plunge and established her own consultancy for taxation and business – MRS Business Professional Consulting at Jakarta-Indonesia and representative office at Washington DC-USA in 2021.
“The challenges I continue to face in my business journey are global competition, discipline, deadlines, producing a successful next generation, positive work results with detail and argumentativeness, and selection in choosing a reliable team. Through a combination of hard work and smart work, I have built this business with integrity, success spirit and high commitment.”
As a professional tax consultant registered with the Ministry of Finance in Indonesia, and a tax attorney at the Tax Court as well as the Supreme Court, MRS Consulting is supported by experienced tax experts and tax lawyers.
In its almost decade long existence, it has emerged as a trusted and reliable consultancy for multinationals, international governments, educational organizations, and public institutions. With offices in Jakarta and Washington DC (USA), it now serves clients in Asia, America, Europe and beyond.

Sharing her knowledge is a huge part of who Monica is today. She has been educating others, specially the youth, for almost a decade now and is currently a very popular Economics lecturer at the University of Indonesia.
“My achievements are educating the younger generations and facilitating an environment to create a successful young generation; guiding young women to become independent women; educating the youth to have positive mental health and strong character; and harbor harmonious relationships amongst families,” she says.

Reflecting on her professional journey of 20 years, Monica tells us, “My experiential learning in this life journey is to have high commitment to a successful future, always maintaining integrity in all things, maintaining good relationships with others, always upgrading education in various fields of science, discipline and being honest, always stating the truth, maintaining good values, and also contrive and praying.”
A thought leader sought across global platforms, Monica continues her good work across countries and continents. A role model to many who know her, she defines her leadership as: “Leadership for me means being a successful role model in professional and personal life and applying it to the next generation to create new leaders who in turn are also successful and inspiring in professional and personal lives. For me, a success leader must be able to create new leaders who automatically inspire the success of the next generation.”
