There are stories born from privilege, and then there are stories forged in resilience, refined through hardship, elevated by purpose, and illuminated by an unshakable belief in humanity. The journey of Leila Parsa, Founder and CEO of The Butterfly Concept, is unmistakably the latter. Today, she stands as a compelling visionary in global education, yet her path began in the Kurdish region of Iran, where the mountains held beauty but life carried constant political strain.
Her father was killed for political reasons when she was sixteen, an event that transformed childhood into survival. Fleeing to Sweden with her mother and siblings, she rebuilt her life carrying the weight of loss but also the extraordinary strength of a mother who embodied courage and responsibility. “My mother’s strength and leadership empowered me to create my concept,” she recalls. “She awakened clarity in me. She changed our lives.”
This clarity evolved into one of the world’s most scientifically recognised educational systems. The Butterfly Concept, a complete, licensable school model, emerged from lived experience, academic discipline, and a deep emotional understanding of children’s needs. Based on salutogenic pedagogy, sustainable architecture, and operational excellence, the concept integrates mental health, identity-building, independence, empathy, responsibility, and coexistence into the fabric of schooling. “I represent three things,” Leila says. “A refugee child who became the founder of a scientifically validated global concept, a woman shaped by a mother who awakened clarity in me, and a person empowered through science and society.”
What sets The Butterfly Concept apart is not just its philosophy but its scientific credibility. The model is officially recognised and certified in Singapore for its salutogenic school design and has received the Highly Commended Award for Salutogenic Design. Every method and structure is research-based, contributing to a child’s mental wellbeing, identity formation, and emotional balance. Her vision is clear: to build sustainable, research-driven, heart-centered schools that are both scientifically grounded and deeply human.
Leila’s ambitions are global. Her foremost goal is to take The Butterfly Concept to the international stage, licensing it across countries from preschool to grade nine. She seeks partners who possess compassion, courage, purpose, and integrity, people who believe in evidence-based, sustainable transformation. “I want to empower people,” she says. “I want to contribute to society, create leadership roles, and work with partners who believe in evidence, sustainability, and humanity.” Her greatest dream is to empower women, refugees, and future leaders through education, design, storytelling, and scientific methodology. Ultimately, she hopes to leave behind a legacy proving that science, beauty, and humanity can coexist to create healthier generations and a kinder world.
Her life philosophy defines her leadership as much as her professional mission. To her, leadership is not about authority but about service, integrity, kindness, and sensitivity. She believes true leadership means holding empathy and clarity at the same time, standing beside people, not above them. Her strengths reflect this ethos: intuition, emotional intelligence, visionary thinking, resilience, compassion, focus, and the ability to separate emotions from facts when necessary. These qualities allow her to lead with both heart and precision.
Despite her responsibilities, Leila maintains balance through rituals anchored in simplicity and presence. Nature is her sanctuary; long walks, fresh air, birdsong, and silence restore her emotional strength. She finds peace in driving long distances, spending meaningful time with her children, and staying close to people who share her values. Even her dog Fluffy adds comfort and joy to her days. “I avoid chaos and noise,” she says. “Nature, silence, and presence keep me emotionally strong and creative.” For her, balance comes from harmony, living in alignment with her values.
Leila’s global impact is reflected in the distinguished honours she has received across multiple countries. Her groundbreaking model earned the Highly Commended Award for Salutogenic Design in Singapore and official scientific recognition and certification of The Butterfly Concept. Her expertise has been recognised as Education Expert of the Year in Doha and honoured with the Socially Responsible Company award in Sri Lanka. In Sweden, she was honored with the distinguished Tillväxtgalan Award, while in the Örebro region, she was nominated among the Fastest-Growing Companies, further underscoring her entrepreneurial influence. Her work has also been acknowledged within Dubai’s education and sustainability ecosystem. Today, her journey is crowned by her induction into the Passion Vista Global Icons 2025 Hall of Fame, a testament to her scientific integrity, sustainability-driven vision, and human-centered approach to education.
Through every chapter of her life, Leila has remained anchored in her truth. Her message to the world reflects her own evolution: “Your life can change when you decide to honor your truth. Build with heart, act with courage, and never apologize for your purpose. If you nurture your inner spark, you can create a life, and a world, filled with dignity, healing, and possibility.”
From a refugee child to a global trailblazer building scientifically validated educational futures, Leila Parsa proves that when clarity meets courage, transformation becomes not just possible, but beautifully inevitable.
