Integrating DigiTech, Dance and Travel to spotlight African talent
The versatile Jennifer Anais Garba could have easily forged a career in any of her skilled areas – Digitech, Dance, or Travel. However, blessed with a remarkable social conscience, she integrated all her competencies for a worthy cause – to shine the spotlight on the hidden talent in Africa and its diaspora around the world.
“Africa and its diaspora has a pool of talent that must be taken into account. For instance, the success of the CAN in Ivory Coast marks a turning point which demonstrates that business impact has no borders when we give ourselves the means. So, do not hesitate to take Africa into account as a breeding ground for tomorrow’s business,” she states.
Jennifer grew up in a creative environment of entrepreneurs between France and Africa. Her father was in finance and transport services, grandmother in fashion and travel, and grandfather in aeronautics, which is where she imbibed her love for traveling and flying planes.
Passionate about new technologies to the point of being a geek, Jennifer’s academic journey combined her love for creation and technicality. She completed an STT baccalaureate in IT and management; BTS in business communication; Bachelor’s in marketing; and Master’s in business & marketing management.
Simultaneously, she founded the collective – Racines, which aims to promote culture and art in all its forms under the theme of Africa. She also started dancing at the age of 5 with classical and modern jazz lessons, followed by Latin and hip-hop. As an Urban Afro Dancer, she participated in many projects with different artists across shows, clips, and musical creations via her company Adduna, which she founded in 2004. Unbeknown to her then, these activities paved the way for her African endeavors later.
Jennifer began her professional career with an international architecture agency where she managed the client portfolio for large projects such as Queen Mary 2 and then moved to a Parisian SPA specializing in ethnic massages where she managed the promotion, sale of products, and privatization of the place. She also worked at L’Oreal and Groupama bank before entering the digital playground with Reed Business Information, Isobar, Microsoft, World Vision, and Generation 2.0 as Digital Project Manager.
Yet, she always harbored the vision to show and promote African expertise and its actors, whatever the field. However, many were reluctant to invest in Africa as they did not know its codes, its mode of operation, etc.
That’s when Jennifer came upon Le MOCA (Movement Of Creative
Africas) by CCA – a collective which aims to promote the actions of entrepreneurs in an event within 2 to 3 days, with 4 axes:
- Conferences to talk about business issues
- Synergies that allow for collaboration (networking)
- A line-up for concerts
- A laboratory or combined arts.
As Chief Digital Officer, Jennifer pilots the VR project for young people to discover African culture and hidden professions of the creative and cultural industries.
“The more reference mentors and ambassadors we find, the more talents will no longer be hidden and instead be on the same level as other experts on an international scale. Africa has its place to take in terms of business and international influence, and the projects that I carry out move in this direction.”
Jennifer’s ability to interact, innovate, and inspire make her an
exceptional Digital Communications Consultant. Fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Italian, she likes meeting people, telling stories, and expressing them through art. She also enjoys sharing her expertise through events and conferences, which contribute to her strategy and commercial development.
Few international platforms where she has been honored include:
- Winner of the grand prize with her dance company Adduna, Amnesty International, 2006
- Successful Horn of Africa fundraiser within World Vision France, 2011
- Participation of Miss Togo France Election, 2015
- Presentation of the Senegal Solidarity Project of her association Roots on the VoxAfrica channel, 2015
- Participation in the woman movie by Yann Artus Bertrand & Anastacia Mikova, 2017
- Winner of the Queen RG Elégance France election, 2017
- Outstanding Young Leader award for VR Project for Youth (MOCA), Dubai 2023.
Today, Jennifer continues dancing as a Djembel instructor and works as a consultant on projects aimed at – youth or adult international solidarity projects; creative and cultural industries for actors and entrepreneurs
in action on the theme of Africa; and high value digital projects (VR, AI). Thanks to her passion for traveling, she also shares her landmarks and unusual places on the VoxAfrica channel within the program Les RDV de Paris as a columnist.
This year, Jennifer took one step closer to her goals when she was appointed as an Ambassador for Human AI in January 2024. Her motto now is to demonstrate that AI and data mastery are within Africa’s reach. A vibrant voice for the African youth, this is just the beginning of Jennifer’s African dream.
