When Dr. Dalal entered the field of stress management in leadership in 2004, it was at a nascent stage and the impact of stress on the human `mind and body was not completely known. What initially inspired this impressive and life-changing journey? Well, it began with personal experiences dealing with the impact of stress.
Born in a loving family in Mumbai, India, Adil moved to the USA for his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Western Michigan University. Upon its completion, he joined a major medical equipment manufacturing company, where he became a Director of Demand Flow Technology within a few years. In the midst of running multi-million-dollar transformational programs, international travels, and completing his second master’s degree in Engineering Management, one day Adil just collapsed and had to be rushed to the ER. For 3 days, he couldn’t move a single muscle; his doctor’s explained that his condition was brought on by extreme stress. Around the same time, Dr. Dalal also came to know that one of his executive friends in Texas was also severely affected by stress. In his case, his body was completely deformed, preventing him from eating on his own or walking without support. Witnessing cases so close to home, Dr. Dalal realized that stress was a serious condition impacting lives of executives, and he wanted to find a better way to handle work-related stress. “I realized the power of the mind-body connection. To overcome my personal setback, I took some time off and returned with some powerful solutions that I launched using my own business in 2004 – Pinnacle Process Solutions, Intl., LLC. Through Pinnacle, I tried to build things differently and achieve peak performance for myself and other executives with less stress.”

Regularly invited across continents to deliver keynote addresses, Dr. Dalal reveals that the incidence of stress has gone up drastically in all countries. The most troubling stress statistics are in the USA, where the stress levels are at least 20% higher than the world average.
When we asked him, ‘What is driving this stress in the modern world?’ He answered, “It is due to rapid Globalisation! As companies are expanding across cultures, the corporate landscape is going through a tectonic shift, and everything is working against leadership. The traditional models of leadership – autocratic, democratic, transactional, transformational and others, are not working anymore. Leaders are trying to adapt but feeling completely lost. They’re taking more stress on themselves and creating undue stress for others. They think pushing people will make them more productive. But research shows that when you put people under chronic stress, it negatively impacts their memory and decision-making. What leaders need is education on a different approach where they can achieve peak performance, while effectively guiding others to manage the stress levels and increase efficiency.”
