A Multifaceted Leader in Myriad Professions
It is difficult to slate the dynamic Cindy Murray into one role. A licensed life, health, property and casualty agent – Cindy is an insurance agent as well as a business owner of the Triple M Stables LLC. She’s also a former top-performing policy & budget analyst with extensive experience in state government management and planning.
At the ripe age of 64, when most people her age are retiring or in nursing homes, Cindy is enjoying her prime. Born in Louisville, Kentucky (USA), Cindy obtained a BS in Agribusiness and an MBA from Morehead State University. She taught as a graduate assistant in Morehead’s Horsemanship Program, competed in the World Championship Horse Show in a tough 5 gaited class, and lived on the university farm for 3 years. She could feed two houses of 10,000 chickens, 100 head of cattle, 10 nursing sows and still make an 8:00 am class!
In 1985, she moved to Frankfurt, Kentucky and joined the Kentucky State Government as an accountant. Over the years, she was promoted to a top Legislative Budget Analyst for the $13 billion Health and Family Services Cabinet. She helped at least two Governors with Healthcare Reform and started the Kentucky Children’s Health Insurance Program, which still brings in over $200 million in Federal Funds every year and covers over 85,000 low-income children. She also became a Certified Management Accountant during this time.
After 33 years in service, Cindy retired to begin work as an independent, licensed insurance agent in 2018. She obtained licenses to sell mortgage protection, final expense, general insurance and annuities including medicare, car and home insurance in all 50 states in the US.
Simultaneously, she continues to raise, train, sell and show American Saddlebreds on her farm in Kentucky. No animal goes without food or shelter on the 17 acres her family has been on for 40 years. They even have a rescue parakeet on their kitchen table that someone threw out in the driveway. “To top it all, my 23-year-old daughter has just begun Ross Veterinary School in the Caribbean!” shares the proud mother.
Currently in the best phase of her life, Cindy has no problem balancing work and family. “Now that I work from home by and for myself, it’s easy. I do what I want, when I want and if I want. Love it!” she says, adding, “My strength is that I’m physically fit and my mind is sharp as ever. That may change one day, but hopefully not too soon, and I hope I can help others the way I’ve been helped both personally and in my career.”
Cindy’s inspiration? Faith first. Family second. Career third. “The unwavering support from my husband of 25 years, older sister, daughter and her fiancé, son and his wife, and my grandson Greyson plus the 22 rescue animals on our farm drive my passion. There is nothing better than to gain the trust of an animal that’s either been neglected and/or abused, or a feral animal that can no longer care for itself.”
In her free time, Cindy plays with her animals, cleans horse stalls, rides when she can, cooks, and watches John Wick and other old movies. She’s an avid reader and researcher, and takes part in professional events whenever possible. She’s up for another Visionary Award in the CXO 2.0 Conference in Las Vegas March 4-6, 2025, and is listed as a speaker/panel member. “I guess one of these days I’ll do what one ER doctor said and act my age (I was being seen in Urgent Care for a stiff knee). Rest assured, he won’t be seeing me again!”
A leader with an indomitable spirit, Cindy has a unique take on her accomplishments: “Many times, I’ve been in the right place at the right time and made the right recommendations that have helped thousands of people. I’m not the smartest person on Earth, but I am a Doer, and I like to accomplish things that help a lot of people.”
