Coaching Leaders of Tomorrow
What makes the IIM Calcutta alumnus Anamitra Chatterjee one of India’s foremost Accredited Executive Coach (EMCC) is his diversity of Indian and European clients. He took to the profession when it was at a nascent stage more than a decade ago. Driven by the passion to empower people, help them achieve their best version, and create impact, he soon emerged amongst India’s Top 10 Executive Coach as well as a Faculty of Leadership Development.
Anamitra Chatterjee has had diverse education and work experience of 25+ years in India and UK across Deutsche Bank and PwC, Hult Ashridge UK and IIMs in India. Anamitra was Head-HR, Learning & Development (L&D) for 5 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) India. He is an Accredited Executive Coach (EMCC).
He has 12+ years of independent practice in Leadership Development & Executive Coaching. He has coached over 230 senior leaders and 2600 hours. As Faculty, he designs and delivers courses on consulting skills, organization behaviour and leadership development.
As we begin our tete-a-tete, Anamitra is quick to credit his success and reach to a diverse education and work experience in India and UK for 25+ years including the prestigious British Chevening Scholarship which he took to study post-graduation at the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE).
Anamitra Chatterjee, holds two post-graduate qualifications: PGDM (MBA) from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta and PGD
from London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE), and a Master’s degree – MSc Masters in Executive Coaching (AMEC) from Hult Ashridge UK. He studied on a British Chevening scholarship at LSE, UK. He got a Distinction in BSc – Economics (Hons) from Presidency College. He is a certified practitioner of psychometrics: Hogan & LVI360, Belbin, FIRO-B & MBTI. He also underwent the World Class Mentoring (Elite Sports & Business) Programme from Ashridge Business School UK.
Anamitra enjoyed a successful corporate career for 10 years in global organizations like Deutsche Bank AG and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He was then Director, Executive Coaching at Eruditus Executive Education. “One of the highlights of my career has been my association with the Asian Leadership ILPSE at INSEAD Singapore,” he recollects.
This connection not only marked a transformation in his career, but also steered him in the right direction. Thereon, his professional journey followed an inspiring trajectory covering coaching and teaching.
In 2013, Anamitra became an Adjunct Faculty at Hult Ashridge Executive Education UK, and has been a Hult Ashridge Coach since 2015. He has been teaching as an Adjunct Faculty (OB & HRM) at IIM Kozhikode since 2016 and is also a Visiting Faculty at IIM Calcutta.
Yet, one of his biggest achievements remains turning Solopreneur with his own independent practice in 2012. What began as a start-up executive coaching is today a pan-India Executive Coaching Practice catering to senior leaders and corporate clients, to put it euphemistically.
Anamitra says, “My Leadership Development and Executive Coaching practice is informed by my own belief in ‘Performance = Potential – (Internal) Interference.’ As an Executive Coach, I rely on this belief and the relational coaching approach to support my clients to help them explore behavioral change and attain their goals. I use my training, accreditation, and experience to connect with leaders on the warmth- competency bridge.”
Anamitra makes time for his passion in travelling to mountains. His only regret is that he could not adapt faster to digital technologies.
“During the Covid-19 years, when there was less work, I was able to think more and have a balanced strategy. I allocated a greater amount of my time to develop on teaching in the areas of executive education and organization behaviour. I am always interested in newer and creative work in my independent coaching practice. I now wish to set up a specialized Center of Excellence (CoE) for Leader Development: Executive Coaching in India,” he remarks.
A much sought after Leadership Keynote Speaker and Coach, Anamitra was selected amongst the Top 10 Executive Coaches in India and featured on the Cover in Asia Business Outlook, September 2023.
Anamitra is thankful to his teachers in Ashridge UK and to his family in Calcutta for their support during the period of building his executive coaching practice over the decade which has brought him recognition in India, Asia. Bidding us adieu with some food for thought, he says, “How can you become better? It is my belief that if you are able to manage your internal interferences, your performance will become better.”
