Frequently voted amongst the ‘Most Influential People in Global Supply Chain’, Sanjay Gupta is a trailblazer in Healthcare-based Supply Chain Management. A seasoned leader with over 2 decades of experience, he is currently the Vice President – Integrated Supply Chain, Imbed Biosciences Inc, USA.
Sanjay’s ascend to global dominion in the field of supply chain and international logistics is a story of skills and surprises. Born in India, Sanjay completed his BSc in Nautical Sciences from esteemed maritime academy Training Ship Chanakya to become a Merchant Marine Officer. Beginning as Third Officer at K.C. Maritime Ltd (Hong Kong), he soon rose to the leadership roles at the prestigious Maersk Line and earned certificate of competency as Captain of Ship.
After a decade in the Merchant Marine, Sanjay decided to utilize his global experience to transform supply chain management. He thus armed himself with a PGP in Finance Management from the Fisher College of Business; a Master’s in Logistics from The Ohio State University; and a Master of Engineering in Supply Chain Management from prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The next decade saw him conquer the field of global supply chain with an envious track record boasting names such as Philips Health Systems, Accuracy Inc, and Imbed Biosciences.

Sanjay may have stumbled upon healthcare by chance, but the choice to make a difference to millions of lives had him hooked for life. He held various supply chain leadership roles at Philips and Accuray.In 2022, he joined Imbed Biosciences Inc in Madison, Wisconsin, as Vice President – Integrated Supply Chain.
At Imbed Biosciences, Sanjay manages end-to-end supply chain including planning, sourcing, manufacturing, and order fulfillment, ensuring timely delivery of advanced wound care products. His focus on digital transformation and data analytics drives complete visibility and cost efficiency.
He reveals his inspiration stems from a profound desire to save lives by applying innovative supply chain solutions to new medical technologies. “This drive comes from the profound impact effective supply chains have on patient care, such as ensuring timely delivery of advanced cancer treatment technology, which once saved a pregnant woman’s life, and providing essential wound care products that enhance the lives of elderly people suffering from diabetic foot ulcers. By leveraging digital transformation and data analytics, I aim to create resilient, efficient supply chains that make critical medical treatments accessible, ultimately improving and saving lives.”

These lessons proved invaluable when he guided Accuray Inc. through COVID-19 disruptions.
Sanjay’s background as a Merchant Marine officer also taught him the importance of strategic vision, resilience, and decisive leadership. He now focuses on long-term goals and innovative solutions rather than short-term competition. This approach enables him to lead with purpose, empowering others and making a meaningful impact while maintaining ethical standards and driving sustainable success.
