Leading Celebrity Fashion Designer

In an industry where designers are a dime a dozen, Leading Celebrity Fashion Designer, Niketa Thacker, founder of SIVI – The Bespoke Boutique, has managed to carve a niche for herself with her traditional designs presented in contemporary form.

However, designing is not what Niketa had set out to do. A qualified criminal lawyer, it took Niketa years to see her childhood passion turn into professional reality.

A native of the vibrant Kutch region in the Indian state of Gujarat, Niketa’s fascination with rich textiles, embroideries and craftsmanship began when she was a young girl. When she used to go and play around her village in Saurashtra during school holidays, she would observe and examine local women engaged in creating beautiful apparel and handicrafts. Fascination soon turned into hobby, and Niketa started practising activities like mirror work, colouring, and painting, among others.

After a brief interlude in Ahmedabad, Niketa once again found herself in Kutch, following marriage. A practising lawyer now, Niketa’s heart was still set on design. Soon enough, she found herself in touch with several local artisans and slowly started helping the village women set up exhibitions in other rural areas and cities.

Seeing her creativity and dedication, it was Niketa’s husband who egged her on, suggesting she start her own label. As destiny would have it, this is the time they moved to the bigger city of Ahmedabad and set the wheels in motion. In a few months time was born SIVI – The Bespoke Boutique.

SIVI reinvents fashion for a modern lifestyle while still preserving tradition. It realises that fashion isn’t a luxury for few but a necessity meant to be exercised by all and this philosophy is explicitly reflected in its unique designs and affordable price range. At SIVI, you’ll find a wide range of products including Suits, Kurtis and Bandhanis.

But what sets SIVI apart is its dedication to customisation. The central focus of the boutique is its bespoke items and you can trust Niketa’s genius to see your dream outfit turn into reality. Unlike mainstream fashion stores, SIVI emphasises on customised clothing that compliments the personality of the client rather than promoting general wholesale products. It is meant for women who want their personalities to shine through high quality stitched yet subtle garments.

Through the years, SIVI has grown in popularity not only in Ahmedabad, but also across Gujarat and Mumbai. Niketa has put together fashion shows in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, and curated exhibitions in other metros and countries too.

Today it enjoys a host of Gujarati and Bollywood celebrity clients. In addition, it has fetched Niketa such prestigious awards as Kutch Shakti Award (Nari Ratna); Celebrity Designer Award received from Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, Zee Mahasanmaan 2019; Best Designer Award in Aulva fashion show, Mumbai, and others.

But one of Niketa’s biggest achievements came this year when she launched her ‘Panjo Kutch Collection 2021’. Following the pandemic and the Government’s appeal for ‘Vocal for Local’, Niketa decided to promote the work of Kutchi artisans whose livelihoods were severely affected during the lockdown. Under this initiative, Niketa has curated beautiful fabric works like ajrakh, block print, dhabu, mashroom, gaji silk and bandhani. She aims to promote this work across India and internationally, thereby encouraging local artisans and highlighting their exquisite work.
