Frizzell D’Souza
Frizzell D’Souza, whose name is as unique as her songs, is based in Bengaluru and is both a singer and a songwriter. Her love for music prompted her to post videos of her performing the covers of popular songs on her social media handles. When covid struck, so did an idea to create a brand new song which would make her create ripples in the music industry. She subsequently released her new debut single, ‘New’, which has an undeniable retro feel. The song has a soft guitar strumming which is bound to mesmerise the listener with a cosy vibe. Banat is a Mumbai-based singer whose first EP was released in covid in 2020. She is also an educator who fell in love with music at the mere age of five when she started learning harmonium. She was later introduced to rock music and learned to play the guitar. Her life plays a big influence in her music as her latest EP, ‘Flish’, embarks the listener on a journey into her soulful musical ideologies that are strung together by her experimental persona.
Huyana
Varshita Ramesh, whose stage name is Huyana, is a Chennai singer-songwriter whose tryst with her musical destiny started amidst covid in 2020 when she went to Goa. She lost her job and enrolled in the Goa Jazz Academy the week after. Subsequently, she started performing in various open mics and did 30 shows in a short time span. Her single ‘Is It You?’ was a major hit and was an R&B track which was loved by everyone. Her latest track, ‘Nothing Wrong In Not Being Okay,’ is inspired by her time in Goa and is a blend of country and folk.
Kayan.a
This multi-talented artist, who is a singer, DJ and recording artist, is making everyone take notice of her immense talent. Going by the stage name of Kayan.a, Ambika Nayak has performed with her band ‘Kimochi Youkai” at NH7 Weekender, The Royal Opera House and The Little Door. Besides this, she also performed with Nimrit Shah, which is called ‘Nothing Anonymous’, which they performed in many music festivals. Her artistry is really dynamic, as she can master different music genres with utmost ease.
Aditi Ramesh
Trained in classical Carnatic music, former lawyer Aditi Ramesh is basking in the success of her numerous singles. Her jazz and blues music made heads turn when she released her four-track EP ‘Leftovers’ in 2019. She intrinsically mixes her Carnatic roots with western tunes, which converge to form amazing masterpieces.
