After college, her career shifted towards business, particularly sales and management, which aligned perfectly with her gregarious personality. Despite her unconventional career path, Carrie relied on hard work and sheer willpower to prove herself over and over again; determined to succeed.

Carrie’s ascent to her current role as Vice President of Business Development, reflects a distinctive approach to career development. Struggling to make ends meet, working multiple jobs, finding time with her daughter and being an example of what was possible with hard work. She navigated this time with remarkable determination. “Luckily, I was guided by several mentors who pushed me and shaped me into who I am today,” Carrie reflects.
Starting with sales and working her way up to management gave her early success right out of college. Carrie moved into bigger and better roles in the construction, textile and telecom industries. Then, her career and challenges shifted. This marked a period of introspection, a time to discern her values and purpose. The questions Carrie grappled with were ones that resonate with many of us: What direction should I take? Who deserves my time and energy? What truly matters to me? Pivoting once again, she focused on making a difference, channeling her energies, and continuing to learn and grow. For Carrie, an opportunity for evolution and transformation.
With more than two decades in sales and management, Carrie now holds the current distinction of Vice President of Business Development with Sensera Systems – a Colorado based technology company. She has been with the company since 2015 and has worked diligently to build Sensera’s brand awareness within the industry. Her focus is client engagement, expansion, and awareness.
A sought-after speaker, panel participant and moderator at various conferences including 2023 New York Build and the 2023 ICBA Construction Innovation Summit, showcases her expertise, unique insights, and valuable contributions to industry-altering discussions. Celebrated for her tireless efforts in DEI, she was named a 2023 Women in Construction Ambassador at the Chicago Build event. In addition to this she has demonstrated her commitment to DEI by serving as a past Diversity Ambassador and WIC Ambassador at NY Build and Chicago Build events, advocating for empowerment and equal opportunities.
Two of her great honors include her induction into the 2023 Marquis Who’s Who Biographical Registry, which celebrates her storied career and indelible impact on others, and the 2021 AGC Women in Construction Waymaker Award, recognizing her as a trailblazer, empowering fellow professionals. As a Business Mentor since 2015, she generously shares her knowledge, nurturing others’ success. “Being a mentor has been an important part of my growth and has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career,” Carrie shares.
To Carrie, leadership is not about dictating; it’s about guiding. “A leader,” Carrie asserts, “is not a ruler but an example; someone who paves the way for others while remaining humble enough to continue learning and growing themselves.” Leadership, for her, is about nurturing each team member and guiding them toward their full potential. It is a testament to her humility and her ability to draw inspiration from those around her. “I am constantly learning, evolving, adapting and embracing change – that is all part of my journey,” she ruminates.
