That belief took root early. Entering the shipping industry at 17, Sastry demonstrated remarkable clarity of purpose. Within a decade, he rose to become the youngest Captain in his fleet at just 26, an achievement reflecting both technical excellence and commanding leadership maturity. His years at sea were foundational, instilling discipline, resilience, and a global perspective that would later define his strategic approach.
In 2004, he transitioned ashore as a Superintendent in Hong Kong, stepping into management. This shift marked the beginning of a new chapter, one that soon evolved into entrepreneurship. By 2006, he co-founded a shipping-focused projects and investment company in Hong Kong with just USD 50,000. It was a move shaped by necessity and sharpened by instinct.

Over the next decade, this forward-looking entrepreneur expanded across global maritime hubs including Singapore, Jakarta, Mumbai, Dubai, Amsterdam, and Washington DC. In 2016, demonstrating foresight and discipline, he exited his Hong Kong venture and chose to invest in himself. He pursued a full-time MBA at the University of Manchester, specialising in corporate finance, an area he identified as a critical gap.

By 2022, Sastry had established his base in Dubai, launching Rainmakers Management and Consultancy, followed by Adhira Shipping & Logistics in 2023 and GSC Consultancy in 2024. As CEO of all three entities, he now operates as a multi-venture leader, advising, executing, and building solutions-driven businesses with a strong focus on Africa-linked trade and logistics.
