Arundeep Nagaraj, inspired by childhood engineering fascination, has emerged as a remarkable figure in the world of technology and leadership. His journey, from early mechanical robot tinkering to his current role as a Solutions Architect Manager at Amazon Web Services (AWS), showcases his determination, commitment to education, and passion for helping others.
Arundeep’s love for engineering began in his formative years when he enthusiastically pieced together manual mechanical robots. This early exposure to the world of technology ignited a spark that led him to pursue Telecommunication Engineering in Bangalore, India. Arundeep achieved the second-highest ranking in his university, a diverse institution comprised of over 180 colleges.
As his journey unfolded, Arundeep explored hardware programming languages like VHDL and Verilog. He shifted his focus towards hardware and networking, exploring the offerings of Cisco Systems for Route and Switch, laying the foundation for his tech career.
In 2011, Arundeep embarked on his professional journey at Cisco Systems as a Technical Consulting Engineer. Here, he provided technical expertise and assistance to Cisco’s enterprise customers, particularly in resolving complex architecture problems related to the Cisco Contact Center suite of products in Collaboration.
Arundeep’s commitment to growth and excellence pushed him to learn programming languages like Python and JavaScript, enabling him to automate complex technical problems. Despite numerous challenges and occasional uncertainty on his journey from college to professional realm, he displayed unwavering determination. Like the mythical phoenix, he emerged from adversity with enhanced strength and resilience.
Currently, Arundeep leads the Developer Experience team at AWS, assisting front-end and mobile developers in overcoming adoption barriers for AWS services.
Arundeep’s life extended beyond his career. He understood the importance of maintaining a balance between his professional and personal life, especially as he navigated a support-focused role. He pursued certifications from Red Hat, VMWare, and Cisco, including the prestigious Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE), all while dedicating hours of study outside his regular work schedule.
His motto, “Work hard and have fun,” reflected his commitment to achieving his goals without sacrificing quality time with loved ones. Arundeep’s dedication also extended to software development projects at Cisco and AWS, where he became a sought-after speaker, winning Best Speaker awards at multiple Cisco summits.
Arundeep’s journey in public speaking was not without its challenges. He recalled a low point in his life when he received non-constructive feedback on his presentation skills during his final year of engineering. However, he channeled that feedback into continuous improvement, eventually becoming an accomplished public speaker at Cisco events. His advice to others: “No one gets it right on the first try; it’s all about embracing the moment and giving your presentation your absolute best. Embrace the opportunity to shine.
During his tenure at Cisco, Arundeep earned numerous accolades, including Best Team, Best Individual Performer, Best Voice Engineer, and Best Technical Lead awards. Furthermore, he was featured in a Cisco Press Book for session border controllers demonstrating his expertise in Contact Center.
In addition to his Cisco achievements, Arundeep holds multiple AWS certifications and serves as an industry judge for global tech events and hackathons. His passion for front-end development shines through in his authored blogs, videos, and GitHub samples.
Outside of work, Arundeep is an avid sports person and engages in giving back to the society through volunteering. He volunteers at local Food Banks in North Carolina and helping children with special needs along with supporting under privileged children in India with financial aid.
Arundeep’s journey from a Technical Support Engineer to a leadership role at AWS exemplifies his dedication to growth and empowerment.
