A Distinguished Journey to Success
In the heart of Nigeria, about half a century ago, a journey of determination, resilience, and commitment commenced. Dr. Akintunde M. Ajagbe, the fourth of six children in a modest civil service family, would go on to inspire greatness through his life’s extraordinary chapters.
Early life, often defined by humble beginnings, was no exception for Dr. Akintunde. Raised in a family that knew the value of hard work, these formative years became the cornerstone of his future. From the challenges of a modest upbringing, a luminary was born.
As he embarked on his educational voyage in Nigeria, the first inklings of an entrepreneurial spirit began to emerge. Dr. Akintunde’s appetite for business was awakened, a desire to not only succeed but also to give back to society. Little did he know, this aspiration would become a driving force for years to come.
Over 26 years, his journey led him through various business ventures. Some succeeded, while others faced challenges. His entrepreneurial spirit coexisted with his thriving career. During this time, he rose to become a Regional Sales Manager in a prominent Nigerian conglomerate.
But life had more in store. Driven by an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a passion for research, he set foot on a new path. His pursuit of a Ph.D. in Technology Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) was marked by challenges, but his passion secured him a scholarship, paving the way for an exceptional academic journey.
I was at UTM from 2010 to 2014 for PHD studies, MPRI Inc USA was founded in USA in Nov. 2020. This institute symbolized Dr. Akintunde’s desire to share his profound knowledge, empowering academia to foster high- quality research publications, including journal titles, dissertations, theses, projects, book chapters, magazines, and more.
Dr. Akintunde’s ability to master the delicate balance between his personal and professional life showcases his organizational prowess. Without one overshadowing the other, his strategies include setting boundaries, saying no when necessary, and seeking assistance. He also values maintaining physical health to confront life’s challenges.
However, what truly ignites Dr. Akintunde’s spirit is his commitment to mentorship and leadership. His experiences taught him that mentorship is often the key to success, and he decided to employ his vast knowledge in research and industry to guide and mentor aspiring entrepreneurs, academics, and researchers. His mentoring community, thriving both online and on-site, has become the guiding light for countless young individuals seeking clarity in their career paths.
Then, the unexpected came to pass. The COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on businesses worldwide, and MPRI was no exception. Despite the daunting challenges, Dr. Akintunde’s dedication, along with the loyalty of clients who continued to support MPRI, helped the institute weather the storm.
Strength and self-awareness are at the core of Dr. Akintunde’s journey. His determination and unwavering focus on goals have played pivotal roles in his ascent to becoming both a professor and entrepreneurial leader. Yet, he is not immune to the human tendency to multitask, a trait he is actively addressing to strike a balance between work and relaxation.
Dr. Akintunde’s impressive list of accomplishments is an example of his dedication to academia and research. With over 100 published articles in reputable journals and a textbook on technology entrepreneurship financing, he has left an indelible mark on the field. His work has been cited over 2,500 times on Google Scholar by authors worldwide, underscoring the profound impact of his research.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Akintunde has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades. These include recognition as the Best Contributor/ Participant at a Business Strategy Building Workshop organized by the Dangote Group Nigeria Conglomerate, the International Doctoral
Fellowship from the Government of Malaysia during his UTM tenure, and the title of Innovation Champion by Stanford Research Institute (SRI) in collaboration with the Innovation and Commercialization Centre (ICC) of UTM. In 2023, at Florida, USA., he was honored with the “Brilliance in Education Award” from the Global Heals Awards, further adding to his already impressive list of honors.
A public speaker and mentor, Dr. Akintunde extends an open invitation to individuals seeking speaking engagements and mentorship. His dedication to guiding upcoming entrepreneurs and scholars in their pursuits remains unwavering. As a community builder and a member of the Rotary Club of Catonsville, Maryland, USA, he continues to provide vital help and support to those in need. His organization’s consistent recognition as one of the best publishers in the community highlights his commitment to community development.
