How would you describe your style of leadership/mentorship?
Rahul: My mentorship is very much like managing a family. I like to call my team members my business associates,
maintaining a friendly yet result-oriented environment is what I strive for.
I prefer to believe that I am a good listener and I appreciate new ideas. Exhibiting integrity and passion allows my team to the ladder of success.
How did you get your idea or concept for the business? What was your mission at the outset?
Rahul: Some people are destined to be entrepreneurs from the time they are in school. I was forever hungry to start
a business and lead it to success. The creative instincts I possess and the great satisfaction I get out of building things
drives me and my mission. I appreciate the opportunity to sink or swim based on my effort and hard work.
Was there a time you messed up and felt like you’d failed? How did you bounce back? How did you learn to embrace risk-taking?
Rahul: My greatest failure happened when I realized that I could not define what failure means to me. I have always
believed that ‘Life should not stop and keep moving’, taking experience from that I have moved on with my dream
into reality.
To me “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently”.
Which leadership skills were the most difficult to develop?
Rahul: That would be self-awareness, controlling your emotions and practicing delegation appropriately. It involves
elements of some of the other skills, particularly understanding the capacities and limitations of followers.
What’s the most important leadership lesson you’ve learned and how has it proven invaluable?
Rahul: Integrity is the most important quality that I have learnt. Working with a team and handling situation with
grace and composure is a life saviour.
In your opinion, how ready are the next- generation leaders in terms of knowledge, expertise?
Rahul: The new generation has information at their fingertips, gadgets, and a multitude of platforms that sure are an advantage.
However, to the best of my understanding, experience and knowledge are both equally of merit for being ready to take the world heads on.
How important is it to stay connected to key influencers, who do not work in the same office or geographical area?
Rahul: I have always been a keen follower of people who are knowledgeable, or leaders that eventually advocate and practice being an influencer both offline and online. It is important to learn and take the opinion of the influencer.
Do you have any quick tips for re-energizing an overworked team?
Rahul: In my view, working calmly, cooperating with the team and listening to each other, helps a long way towards
keeping everyone involved in the business goals.
Do you have a template that you use for long-range visioning and strategic planning?
Rahul: Accepting challenges and facing problem with grace. Holding the team together in adversity, readiness for a detour when required and a fundamentally strong value system is crucial for businesses to strive. We do have plans, but templatizing them would be unfair.
Please throw some light on your upcoming project/business?
Rahul: I have always believed in the satisfaction of the client requirements, accepting the challenging projects gives
us the impetus to grow and learn. I am currently working on multiple projects from Singapore, Mauritius and India
itself.
